how big of pot/bag will be sufficient for a 20" max lollipoped sogged plant?

1/2 gal bags too small?

i only have 36" of head room so i need to use the smallest possible.

i've seen pics like FDDs with trees in Gal pots so does it really matter?

Im a sceptic of root bound i used half gallon pots for 30" plants before. From seed for finish. The only down fall is that you have to keep an eye on the soil it drys out really fast.

I agree. I have said before I dont believe in root bound,(fdd convinced me of that 100%) that seems to be a good term for an unknown issues with a plant, I mean, yes, Im sure a plant can get "root bound" from being in a small pot, but like mentioned here the only negetive side effects of using smaller containers seems to be that watering frequency is increased.2 of my plants in flower right now have just passed the 3 foot mark and are in containers that are about 1.5g each...healthy as can be, just need watered about twice as much....
