What size pot does everyone prefer to flower in?

Hey guys, so I'm in the middle of building my room, and I have been contemplating what the final layout will look like. I'm thinking I will be running 4 1000w lights over a 10x10 area, flowering 16 plants at a time. What I'm wondering is what size pot is everyone flowering in? I used to run in 5 gallons until I started using super soil, now I've been using 7 gallons, but I'm even contemplating going to 10 gallons. What's everyone's take? 7 gallons or 10 gallons?

1 gallon smart pots and 1.75 gallon square pots.

I do just about all my flowering in 5 gallon pots. Sometimes I'll just do little plants on the side in a one gal.

i ran 7 gal pots for quite a while, but when i stepped up to 10 gal pots i wondered why it took me so long. more roots means more fruits my friend.

I got 4.5 outta 3 gals last run, so I'm probably gonna stick around 3-5 gal for finishing container size!! Mo feedings and teas as well throughout!!

6 feet tall plants indoors hitting the damn lights bigger then a xmas tree ! 5 gallon pots i noticed no difference useing a 7 gallon pot well mabe the 7 or 10 wont tip over as easy lol when all the bud forms joke , use 5 and get possible a pound depending on your grow condition and experience and save money on soil thats stuff is not cheap

Hmmm surprised to hear so many are using less than 7 gallons. Sub specifically states using 7 or 10 gallon pots for super soil. I think I'm gonna run with 10 gallons.

I go from 2 gal smart pots of Roots to 7 gal smart pots with super soil mix.

It depends on your setup. I can run 4 - 10 gallon pots in my flower room. 10 gallons have incredible yield especially with super soil. You need to have some decent head room to run these pots because your plants will be biggins.
I just started 20 seeds looking for keepers of 4 different strains and until I cull the males and pick my best females I will keep everything in 5 gallon pots and some 7 gallon pots.

Space and footprint are an issue for me since my flower room isn't too big...I also am only running the TGA base as of now, but plan on doing some ladies in ss in 7's!!

I"m using 3 gal Smart Pots this grow 4 plants in a 27x27x 70 tent. Previously I used 3 5gal Smart Pots.

I just stepped up to a few #5 pots and a few 5gal smart pots

As "they" say....I heard that... I have a 4x4 tent I use for veg and a 4x8 tent for flowering... It works but I need one more smaller space for cloning and seeds when I do so because trying to clone and veg in the same tent is a real bitch... Also at the moment I cant run both lights in my 4x8 because of my power issues so thats a complete 4x4 being un-used, hurricane sandy took out the panel which the main feeds to my grow spaces' sub-panel were wired to and the people making the repairs think my grow spot is just a dead space that doesnt need electricity or heat at the moment so its gonna be the LAST thing they do..... Talk about a catch 22.... Even before the storm and all my equipment was hooked up properly I was just starting to get everything working properly and optimally, now I'm like a 3 legged dog with a broken foot and a cinder block tied to my waist....

But for the OG poster... I think 7gal pots are enough but its all about what your growing above it that makes the call, if your gonna grow some 6+ foot monsters... you may want to up that pot a bit.. 10's as the others said can create some giants.. But bigger root equals more/bigger fruit is definitely the truth.. On my first grow I put a plant in a 10 gallon rubbermade container and that thing ended up being like 7 feet tall under T8's and CFL's by the time I had to get rid of it because it was just too big for me to flower (I was waiting for my HID lights before flowering and it took a bit longer than expected)... But I think for scrogs... depending on how big but something like oriah does... should get a bigger pot just because its gonna require more veg time than a normal plant, I'm not sure what size he uses but I'm guessing at least a 10 gallon smart pot.... Also... smart pots can be sized down... not that you should because bigger/more roots are always gonna give more, but if you HAD to... you could probably grow the same sized plant that would require a 7 gallon hard pot in a 5 gallon smart pot (or anything similar) due to how they force the roots to grow... But if your gonna grow single cola plants as quick as you can.. you could probably get away using a 5 gal or even a 3gal smarty using supersoil backed up with teas and/or organic nutes...

It all comes down to how you want to grow and what works for you.. We can all tell you what you wanna hear but when you get that monster of a room up and running and see for yourself how everything is gonna work, you'll figure out what you need... Personally, to start..... I vote for 7 gal smarty's...

Check out Superroots Air Pots, I use 4.6 gallon Air Pots and my plants are sooo happy. You can pack more soil in the same space because there is so much air flow through the pots, so they are the equivalent of a 5gal pot or more which is loosely packed. I haven't done a comparison with supersoil, but I imagine I will pull a very similar yield from a 4.6 gal Air-pot or a 7 gal regular pot. Air-pots are more expensive, but they are fully worth it IMO. The bigger the pot, the bigger the yield. That doesnt mean your have to grow TALLER plants. Through bending and training tips and branches you can make use of every square inch of the lighted canopy. For using bigger pots, it helps to put them on wheels. Watch for a sale at Harbor Freight Company for wheeled dollys, on sale the go for $8.99 each. Even 20 gallon Rubbermaid containers moves easily. I've doubled up the big Rubbermaid storage containers, drilling drainage holes in one and then placing the "holy" container into the second container -- elevating the "holy" container with stones so I can water to "run-thru." For the most part, I prefer raised beds -- 3'X 5' because I can grow multiple plants and the roots really spread out and support substantial yields. Just my 2 cents.

Big sky is right big pots doesnt mean that your plants have to be 6 ft tall. I use the 10 and 7 gallon pots. It all depends on how big the plants are and how long the veg is. I start mine in a 1 gal pot till they show sex sometimes they dont and they gotta go to 3 gallon pots then i cull the males at signs of preflowers. Then they veg in a 5 gal pot for two months transplant to a 7 or 10 then they are flowered. My plants are 4.5 to 5 ft tall and trained to be even canopys. I did all my runs in 5 gal pots for the first year i flowered then when i switched i immediatly noticed the diff in size and yield. I use Supersoil and water with a feeding or two with mollases. 4 of the 10 gallon pots fit perfect under 1 x 1000 watt light. Sometimes if im running beans and looking for keepers i will run them in 5 gallon pots that way i can flower more looking for the winners.
