What size pots should I use for my grow.

Hello everyone. I will be starting a 2 plant scrog grow very soon. I am still getting all my supplies. I will be using a 48x24x60 tent. I will have a 400 watt mh/hps light. I will be growing in soil with 50% ocean forest soil and 50% happy frog soil. I was wanting to know what size pots should I use? I was thinking starting each plant in a party cup and then move them to a 3 gallon smart pots to finish in. Does this sound right or should I use bigger pots for this type of grow?

Hi mate they say 1 gallon per month of growth so if your going to veg for lets say 2 months and flower for 2 months you will need 4 gallon pot i would use a 5 gallon to be safe bigger the roots the bigger the fruits all the best

You are going to get root bound in three gallon smart pots. I would go w/ four gallon or five gallon. That would give the roots enough room to veg and bloom. Three gallons would work for three months, but you already have at least a months growth in the solo cup, that is why I say you should go w/ the four gallons. The rule of thumb is a gallon for each month of growth.

I'm doing a scrog right now and used 3 gal smart pots and became rootbound week 5 of flowering and had to transplant so I would deff. go 5 gal of you could cause it's a pain tryin to transplant it in the scrog cause you can't take it out to transplant it or you will never get it back In

So I have another question. Would you use a 48x24x60 tent with a 400 watt mh/hps light and scrog 2 plants in 5 gallon pots or would you use a 36x20x63 tent with the same light and scrog just 1 plant?

It would depend on veg time and strain so you can try to account for the amount of stretch cause you can and will run out of room to tuck your plant when the stretch start then you canopy will be uneven defeating th purpose but if it were me I'd use the 48x24x60 but just my opinion

If you stick to just one soil then you will save a bit of $$.. One bag may fill two 5 gal pots. Probably best to use 25% perlite also.

The bigger the container, the larger the plant will be.
Bigger containers equal larger net yield.
Depends on how much room you have as to what would be the optimum size container for your grow space.
I have brought puny, healthy plants to harvest ranging from 16 oz cups to in-ground behemoths.

I used 400w in a 2'x4'x5' and grew six plants. and they grew pretty nice. I figure that if you grow less plants and vegged longer, it would be easier. I vegged for eight weeks. It wasn't my best, but what I did get was good. I still start my girls under the 400w, but I now finish under 600w.
