What the Slug? Noob grower seeks advice on WTF that slime is!

Greetings RIU (Canadian Patients),

I'm a noob that has been extremely fortunate to have a guiding light in this crazy jungle of contradicting advice on how to consistently provide ourselves with sustainable meds. (Yeah you know who you are. Thanks again!) I started out not really listening, diving into DWC to start. I had a huge success right off the bat, but have had a ton of issues since, so have switched to soil. (Ok I have one Lemon Diesel that is in week 5 of flower that is still in DWC) I feel fairly confident in my watering schedule and my nutes, but have recently seen some weird shit on my fan leaves. Included a bunch of pics. Any ideas? Seems dry and I can't just rub it off the leaves. Looks like the trail a snail would leave, but unless I have some ninja snails around, it ain't a snail. I'm worried it is some kind of mould. Thoughts oh wise RIU growers?

Kudos, Thanks and Free Beers when you are in KW!

bugs are everyone's problem and why we have said LP's will have the biggest problem of all! :)

Hoping to keep them away from my growbox. Would fans be enough to knock them off or are they more resilient than that?

oh my...

they will find their way in...
one day after you've cut your lawn and made the mistake of checking your plants right after....without changing or washing.

My box isn't that close to home. It's nowhere near grass, sun, Windows or doors.

bugs will go any were a human goes. gardening out side or walking in forest or laying on lawn you will bring bugs inside if you don't shower and change clothes, they might have come in a open window or door also, on a dog or cat?

So far so good.
I shower 3 times a day, no animals anywhere near it, I remove all my clothes before entering the space that holds the growbox and I rub hand sanitizer all over my genitals.

thrips are not a good thing.
you can try and control them with neem oil. it will make them starve so no more eating.
but remember that is control not eradication. you can try and vacuum some off the plants
best thing is to remove the infected plants from the garden.
you will have to completely clean the grow room or box or they will be back.

I'll keep an eye out for them.
Seeds cracked today so I've got plenty of other concerns more immediate.

Dude or duddette...that's just plain weird....and 3 showers a day....is kinda like using way more water than any human should be allowed...(carbon footprint)????
kinda reminds me of a guy I read in the grow section who jerked off on his plants to keep is buddies from stealing them..or his buds.....
I guess I have just been lucky so far....with indoor grows....have not taken any precautions really
and bring soil bugs in with the compost I use.....like worms and ants...
the only thing I do is let my room overheat once during the veg period....by taking the temps to about 100F to 110F for 1 hour....
once that is done....there is no powdery mildew at all....so maybe its been killing the other stuff too,...

Thrips they have piercing sucking mouthparts and drain the plant from the undersides of the leaves. They are more of a problem when they get into developing flowers and warp them out.
Bio control- encarsia formosa, a small wasp that kills them. Or, alcohol spray with a surfactant like wet betty or leaf slick. 30-40 ml liter. You might want to do a test spray to see if you scorch the leaves since they are already damaged.

Being vigilant is all you can do. If you are not looking for them..You will never know you have them until you see your crop suffering...
Keeping things clean and following other growing practices won't see bugs in your room very often...
BUTT

they will show sooner or later. They always do...weather its from a mother that's been around a while( months years)
As I said...they can just simply blow into the the area and they'll run for the [plants when they do.

There are good growing practices that see these critters kept at a minimum if any at all.
New clones..new moms...clean rooms help!!

So I had to look up what a cucumeris is...so I have a dumb question...if this is a bug to get rid of a bug, where does this one go when all the bad bugs are gone?

Cucumeris is a preditory nematode that will hunt out thrip larvae in the soil, eliminating the problem at the source. Most bio control bugs will prey appon the pest, once all the pests are gone the bio control will turn cannibal and eat each other until there is only 1 is left. Once all food sources are gone it will die.

Itsme.
