Do a google search for idea's for soundproofing. Also go to Ebay and search soundproofing and they'll have a lot of idea's. A LOT depends on how big your grow is. I FOUND A LOT OF IDEA'S but we bought a Doublewide and all my loud fans are under the house now. We put concrete wall instead of siding so it is totally silent outside also. I was in your boat in the begining and there are a lot of things you can do. GOODLUCK!

i think you could fashion a muffler.

you need a center baffle, just like in the links pic. chicken wire would be good a small gauge.

for the actual noise reduction i would go with something like cotton wool or toy teddy stuffing. something that would draw the sound so stuffing/cotton wadding would maybe work. motorcycle exhaust baffles (old type) used this kinda method, when i was young i used too burn them out.

maybe worth looking into a homebuild than shelling out your cash right now.

couldnt say to be realy honnest. only way is too build a unit and start putting it through testing, different cfm, different rpm's different lenghted ducting.

but yeah cant see why it wouldnt work

its the sound of the air coming out of the register that;s the problem, insulated ducting would only help reduce the sound along the ducting, no??

lol, i know exactly what your problem is....

im telling you.... try insulated ducting first.... im not one of these noobs around here that will tell you something just for the fuck of it.... im not the type to stir in the wrong direction!

a filter will almost muffle sound as well

k, i'll give the insulated duct a try on my 6" line and the muffler i bought on the 4" and post back the results of the comparison.

You can buy insulated ducting. it is the shit yes a little more money and more bulk but way less noise. are you sure it is the fan or the actual air the fan is moving both make alot of noise. also what type of fan
