we need a self trimming plant!!
LOL!!!!Just up the nutrients through the last two weeks and watch those leaves crisp up and fall off for ya!
working their genetics to limit the amount of bad pheno's would be a good start. I haven't attempted any grows yet, but from researching it seems like almost every strain has a few bad phenos or ones that aren't even close to the awesome pheno that everyone wants.
If they work them properly, they could narrow down the need to search for a pheno & then it would basically be if you grow it properly, you will get this amazing result, no searching.
For instance, I bought HSO's Blue Dream. In another thread ppl are saying some of the pheno's aren't great. However, there is a Blueberry/Silver pheno that tastes like a Blueberry Haze, that is the absolute keeper pheno that everyone wants. It doesn't appear that a lot of people get that pheno though.
For a strain to be released, I would like no more than 3 pheno possibilities…and a percentage breakdown of the possibility of having each pheno….that would influence my purchase big time if they were able to do this. I know it's possible & realize it takes time, but theres some strains that have been out since the mid-late 90's that this hasn't happened with yet, due to the breeder not giving a fuck.

Check out Dynasty at Sannie's. They provide this exact kind of information regarding phenotypes and the percentage in which they will appear.
Their facebook page also has the most stunning macro photography of glandular trichomes. Needless to say I bought 8 packs of their beans last month.![]()
It's not as profitable to do this, and that's why it's not done. Growers continue to chase the latest flavor of the month, so there is no financial incentive for breeders to work their lines.
I was just gonna say the same. Dynasty does a really good job of breaking down the phenotypes by description and frequency you should see them. Now, how reliable that info is remains to be seen. I've got 6 CCK gals in flower that will give me an idea....
I've also noticed some of the strains have names like Blue Magoo x Blue Heron #111 which leads me to believe that they actually did selections from decent sized populations in the hundreds, not just your average pollen chucker who picks their best specimen from a 10 pack to breed with.
I mean could be marketing techniques but Dynasty seems to have good vibes from what I can tell.

To start, I think more strains need to strive for a more balanced ratio between all the cannabinoids, particularly CBD...If they could figure out in more detail how the actual "high" works in the brain relative to the duration of the high, perhaps they could extend the high, and thus less need to medicate...
Other than those, perhaps we can begin to figure out how much EXACT genetics are expressed in hybrids, and polyhybrids allowing for a more detailed expectation of results..Instead of simple 60/40 hybrid, maybe see it in a closer genetic match, especially with more and more polyhybrid breeding.
What do you think will be the thing that makes a seed company stand out?
There are a lot of companies sharing cuts and there are tons of great strains already on the market. What will it take for them to get your dollar?
I know I just ordered enough seeds for the next 3 years lol so unless it is something crazy awesome I won't even get the slightest tickle to go for it.
