Building a 5 1/2 foot by 8 foot flower space and a 5 1/2 foot by 4 foot veg space.

WHAT WOULD YOU USE FOR LIGHTS?

I already have 1 600 watt HPS, going to by the rest tomorrow.

i would probably get another hps for flower and get an led or t5 for veg unless you want super intense veggingbut my led has been doing good for me

ya, I also have a 200 & 90 watt LED already, and some CFL's but was not sure if that was the way to go, or just use them as extra

yea agree .. another 600W HPS for the flower room .. get some nice parabolic reflectors for em ..

and either use what you have for the Veg room (I personally would go for a nice 8 tube T5HO fixture) or go for a 400W MH

Good answer. I have a GL240 tent 8x8x6'7"H and according to the mfg it was designed for 4 600w bulbs...so far I only have 2 with Sun Yield Master II Supreme reflectors. Slip were you saying parabolic reflectors for the CFL? That's how I read it. A lot of folks do that.
If you have the budget the T-5 system is great for vegging. You may have enough light for veg and if you add a bit more it'll be less expensive than a T-5. Some folks would say to get an additional 600w MH for the first two weeks of flower, then switch out the bulb(s) for HPS.. I did, but that's an opinion.

I have a GL145 tent for veg with a T-5 8 bulb and a t-5 4 bulb.

I'd be interested in what you'll use for ventilation, odor, cooling, and humidity control. I also missed whether you are soil or hydro.
Whatever you do...have fun!!
Good luck!

I'm soil, organic/ at least working on it.

it is going to be perpetual, so using a light for 2 weeks then switching might not work, however I could run the MH in the front, then 600 HPS middle and 1000 HPS end, and just cycle plants through the stages.

I have a thread on Grasscity that gives some info on the path I have traveled so far. http://forum.grasscity.com/indoor-grow-journals/995041-1st-grow-journal.html

my room plan on Grasscity http://forum.grasscity.com/grow-room-design-setup/1103341-designing-my-new-space.html

On roll it up I have this thread https://www.rollitup.org/grow-room-design-setup/552321-my-new-soon-grow-space.html

thanks to all for you thoughts

Peace

when I say parabolic reflectors I mean for the two 600W HPS I would runn in the flowering room ..

look at our friend reggaerican plants and light/set up .. I would do it similar

scrogg206.jpg

with that kind of space I would make a sea of green and get them parabolic reflectors .. with two 600W HPS you can cover a lot of ground with good penetrations .. then just a nice 8" ventilation/filter ..

atlest thats how I would do it ..

about Veg and T5HO .. I use em .. and have made a lot of research and made some test with my light/foot candles meter

need to keep em 2-4 inch`s away from the plants ..

T5HO provide great par light for weed and nice lumens output .. only real down side is penetrations ..

keep the plants/grow with in 10 inch`s .. after 12 inch`s I dont even get a reading with my light meter ..

with my 600W HPS I have 7x the light output at 10 inch`s as with T5HO 2 inch`s away !!!
at 20 inch`s I can still read 3x the light output as with the T5HOs 2 inch`s away ..

can I just mount hte t5's to the ceiling (its about 6 1/2 feet) in the veg space and that would be good?
You get about four inches of really great light from the HO-t5 lights, then the light is less effective so I wouldn't waste time, light, costs, warmth, etc. etc. etc.... I have them (both in veg and flower (in flower it is only part of my lighting currently, I also have a 1,000 watt HPS in there (soon to be four and all of the HO-t5s will get the veg bulbs put in and the and I keep them right on top of my plants and they keep it a real decent temp with my room temp so they never really go over 85 degrees at certain times of day)). I suggest NOT putting them up high and away from your plants. Ask your local grow shop guy/girl (if you bought it there and if they are of our ilk...) and they will tell you. Most you can trust because they want you to succeed and come back to buy more supplies regularly, plus many of them are well versed on lighting as well as many other topics... or you can post on here (best info on the net is here on RIU) but heck we are all wrong sometimes as we trudge this road to happy destiny. Keep up updated :)

I bought a 400 watt MH with parabolic reflector for the veg space, for flower I got a 1000 Watt MH and 600 HPS. room is coming along, but have realized I'm losing some ceiling space due to pipes being in the way, but I will make it work.
