A red dominant light with some blue and white for added spectrum coverage. If it's free I'd build a 1000W beast :D

Copper MCPCB's without a dialectric(=isolating) layer are worth it! Some LED's depend on good thermal transfer, e.g. red XP-E:

As you can see they loose flux quickly with rising temperature and that's why they benefit from superior cooling (copper pads).
Ya. I was asking more about sinkpad the product and if it is better than a standard star. Copper is basically 2x as thermally conductive as aluminum. But is it necessary to meet the performance parameters or worth the price difference. Also if you have a big area of copper vs aluminum it will add a lot of weight, which was already pretty heavy to begin with.

What I have now (2 SolarStorm 800w CLW) but with 2 300 Plasmas angled down from the corners in each 4x4 area heh.. I might actually do that after next harvest
So are you running two SS800 now...one over each 4x4? And your dream is to add the plasma's?? If so I like it. How are you doing with just the SS800's?

Ive been on a debate... and Im going to wait for the tech to evolve a bit more, at least another 3 months. lol.

Been charting out the specs for my Dream Space recently, and was looking for Alex's old thread for the Colloidal Silver link (no luck..) and ran across this old thread. So i figured id throw up my questions here, if you dont mind Tags.

Think Symmetrical, even throughout.

8x8' Flower Room
-6x3' SCROG (These dimensions are up for play- 6x2', 6x4'...)
-8 site RDWC, not neccessarily undercurrent , building myself- no problem
^^ 1.5x1.5' of screen per plant (no veg time)

6x8' or 8x8' Mum Chamber
-thinking of keeping a max cap. to 4-6, makes DWC easier upkeep for different strains
-Clone rack inside (40 for every 8 keepers)


Now... This is what I wrote down on my notebook last night when I was dreaming on some 3 month cured SLH. O my lanta.. remember, symmetry.

Well, I went to my space and took some measurements, the 8' depth is no question. But I have a dividing wall that stops at 13', keeping my from having my 8x8 rooms.

My thinking:

(Flower) I want to have the space around the SCROG to comfortably maneuver and train the kids. hence the ~2' spacing. Hell, I may even extend the depth out to 10' and put some spare shelves for nutes and a table...

(Mums) I just want them to grow all natural, I will prune accordingly, just want to make sure they are comfortable, and so am I.

No ventilation, CO2 with a CHH4.


Im between x3 AT200's, x2660's. I just wanted to hear what T and P... hah... TP... had to say about coverage of the AT's.

Could a 200 cover a 3' deep scrog well? Im confident in 3 of them spreading 6', basically I need each of them to cover a 2x3' EVENLY.

Luckily the overlap with boost each panels coverage, but I am holding out to see what EH has to offer....... even waiting for the XPG2's may be in mind, but AT really has my eye. This is a long term goal, and this tech is a quick evolving little m'fer.

But in turn for 3 at200s....say ~2300 for 3 of them with your code? and ~3600 for 2 660's? I kept looking back to your umol averages, and the 660's number made me feel MUCH more secure....

I've always been a huge fan of multiple panels, but this macro level shit may call for the big guns... and I have quite a bit of room to play with. So if any of you can make a BALANCED scenario out of things, please chime in.

Hope you don't mind the jack Tags, more irony than anything and thought id cut on the spam threads

It's all good, it's an open thread for any dream setup. your's just happens to even be about AT's...I see nothing but good here.

I am yet to get the at200 going to actually see how well it will cover compared to the at120. But it should definitely cover a 3'x2', and with a dwc it should really be able to no problem. Plus the cross over. Maybe even talk to them about the 50 lens and run them lower. The at200 has plenty of punch to use the 50's and still have high µmol readings.
I don't have my notebook with me but I will see what I wrote about the 50lens tomorrow.

The at600 is my favorite...hard to argue with that foot print and power specially knowing what a 1000hps performs with the similar(but worse spectrum)numbers. 4 dwc's buckets under each and let them blow up(this is my next plan). But that isn't really using your full room.

Maybe 2 at200 and 2 a51's. Get a little mixed spectrums and save some cash.

Do you have a drawing of how it will be layer out? I'm struggling to imagine it(maybe another rip will help...jillybean for me).

Jilly is on the list, sounds like great shit. But i am thinking x3 AT200's- one dead centered, and the outside two just slightly offset maybe 6-12" depending on the spread. I was expecting to need to keep things at least 24" at all times, if not 36-40" for the better spread/coverage depending on the intensity of things... I forget what the default lens is?

If I could take it out to x3 200's and a couple 51's, id probably extend it to 3x8', but thats where I run into tearing down the dividing wall I was talkin about..... I have a shit ton of room, its just finding the right design/setup to take advantage of the environment.

O... and a fuck ton of savings.

I forgot you already have some a51's. The SGS and 3 AT's would be enough. The 3 AT's will do it but still is have to keep in mind a reasonable g/w... 1.5-1.7g/w is very top end of possible right now(imo, and not by me...yet). Just Make sure you have a enough wattage to cover your yield needs. That system will take as much as you can throw at it probably.

Thinking that and looking at it your layout, I am leaning towards two at600's. You have the space and the system design to use them. Plus they have the power to make sure some solid things happen. And then if/when everything goes great you will be more than covered.

All depends on expectations/needs from the room.

lenses are 14(which is really about 28*) and the 50(about 99*, basically just make them water proof). I'll get more for you on the 50's but I remember saying it did't change enough(spread) compare to the peak loss.

I don't want to hijack your thread too much..

But what do people think of LED's and off the Grid Growing, yep, maybe even solar. Although a more reliable way would be solar/wind/methanol/water.

Not trying to be kooky, but my dream setup would truly be a handful of LED's and no grid. Seems like it might be possible here in near future on a practical scale.

It's not kooky and you can run completely off grid. I know of 20 x 40 greenhouses off grid in NorCal. It takes solar panels that are rated in 10kW @ 240 v increments to keep the batteries charged up and running a couple 1/3hp vortex fans and pumps. If the inverter runs down a 45kW sound attenuated diesel generator gets turned on to top them off. The generator can also be turned on by the ADR lighting controller whereby you set the Moles/Day requirement and the controller gives you realtime uMole readings and cumulative Moles for that photoperiod. If the plants need more light throughout the day the sensor signals the genset to get up to operating voltage/frequency and only then does the contactor close and bring the supplemental lights into play. Yes you'll need to handle diesel fuel with a day tank and a truck mounted transfer tank but if utility power isn't an option it is by far the baddest off grid setup I've ever seen.
 
My dream is to have one Gavita light emitting plasma (300 watts in the middle) with one 1000 watts hps on each side. All this for each squre meter. I have a plasma right now but tiny HPS (150 watts).

Also full spectrum LEDs (like solar flare) witht the plasma would also rock.

Someday....

Mine would have to be 4 G8-900 full spectrum Leds on light movers. With each wall having t-5's from end to end, and t-5's in the floor for bottom lighting. Also several all red led 630/660 bloom boosters, and last but not least several 740nm on cycle timers during night times for the emmerson effect to initiate rapid flowering the first 2 weeks of 12/12.

I would go for walls and ceiling of LEDs, Where I can dial in the colors I want. So bright that every cm of the plant was getting light... And No Heat to get rid of

Glad you guys found the thread. But having to pay to run the dream setup was part of the deal, also staying under 2000w(standard hps setup) for the 4x8 space. So how would your dream setups be more efficient and better ant the same time, than just blowing it up with hps. The goal was to show that many people don't have the light they need mostly because cost...not that they can't perform. If startup wasn't as such a big investment, then people would stop trying to find a the greatest deal of all time and get what will actually work.
