IMO, hps.

HPS hands down

HPS, no doubt: way more efficient, and even with the extra wattage in your example with the CFLs, you'll yield more with tighter, frostier buds with the HPS. I started growing with CFLs, had over 1000w of them, and the buds were wispy and loose. I switched to 600 HPS, the nugs were tight as hell and frostier, and the yield was about the same. Good luck!

yes, it will, but the heat from a 150 watt hid won't be too much to cause any issues ime..

I don't know about that. A lot of folks say that, but there's some great articles that say wattage is wattage no matter the type of lighting. HPS seems hotter because the light source is emanates from a single, condensed point, whereas CFLs seem cooler because the light is spread over a larger surface area. When I was rocking the 1000 watts of CFLs my room was a LOT hotter than with my 600w HPS (this is without venting in both cases). Of course, that's a 400 watt difference. I was really nervous at first about the heat from the 600 watt, but it wasn't as bad as I thought. I now rock 2 600w HPS, but I vent out the window...
