What's the best light to veg under?

There is a nice little lamp from htgsupply.com which is a 2ft 2 bulb fluorescent that puts out 10,000 lumens and you can basically put it right on top of your plants. I grew with one for a while and it worked very well for veg.

as far as i know.,hps and mh's are completely unnecessary for vegging., ALOt of people use CFL,s or floros..i use CFL's 6500k their the best for vegging from what i know.,:finger:
While you are saying MH and HPS are unnecessary you are correct. However, this user asked what are the "best". Therefore, the answer would in fact be MH.

CFL's and Floros will absolutely work, you just need a ton more light bulbs and your growth will be complete shit compared to MH.

Good day!

The best, and this is from experience, are fluorescent tubes with a 6500k to 7500k color spectrum. Why ?? It grows your nodes close together which will result in fatter buds after your hps/mh lights strectch your plant during flower......no need for using all that electricity during veg. WALMART...4FT LIGHT FIXTURE 15 BUCKS,,,, 2 4FT TUBES 6500K 10 BUCKS !!

I don't agree. I've used tubes, cfl's and mh. the growth with mh is far above the flour's

MH is great. Also, a lot of 2700k CFL light is good. I've noticed that I get a little tighter distance between nodes with the CFL lighting, but they don't grow as quickly.

Metal Halide for Veg, High Pressure Sodium for flower.

CFL's and fluorescent tubes (High Output T5's are good) work well for vegging. They typically cost less than a metal halide ballast, bulb and reflector but still veg effectively. But MH will give the most light penetration.

Regardless what you use to veg with, use HPS to flower.

well i think MH is cheaper i mean alot cheaper then CFL if you got money buy CFL beacause when the plant is small 400w or watever u is to strong but will still work its a bit like the season like spring is when u plant normanly so the sun is less strong as if it was summer so CFL for first month if u got the money if not MH is just as good but HPS is the best for flowering hope that helped

My light is better, no my light is better.......all sounds wankerish
You can veg under CFL's, tubes, sunlight or MH really depends on budget and size of ur grow room I wouldn't veg under a HPS

well unless you run a controlled test using both MH/HPS systems compared to CLF and T-5's or something along those lines none of us will really ever know which is better. It's really personal opinion as to which of the three are best. Use what you like and don't worry about the next guy or in my case girl.
