I have done molasses trials. I have seen no benefit.I am in the process of feeding my outdoor plants molasses along with big bloom nutes. Since i am using it on all of them its not really a controlled study, but i do have a lot of experience with fermentation, curing, and composting and molasses, for all practial purposes, is a chelating agent as they feed the bacteria that makes nutes more readily available for the roots to take in. It also contains some trace elements that plants can use.
BTW, the plant shown in my avatar which yielded a cola big enough to hide my face and rock hard, was a result of using common sense, no kiddie gimmicks and off the shelf Walmart food.
