Whats the difference between kief, resin and trichomes?

Hello. My apologies if this is in the wrong forum

I somehow could not find this answer in all of my googling

Is kief the bulbous tip of the trichome, or is kief just the same thing as trichomes, just that they are called kief once they fall off the plant?

And what is the difference between resin and trichomes?

I know cannabanoids are contained in the trichomes (and plant matter, but way more in the trichomes)

Thank you in advance.

Resin is when the trichomes grow together and make a gooey sticky oil. Trichomes are those microscopic mushroom looking hairs that grow on the leaves and buds. Kief is the trichomes collected from your finished plant, that fall off of the leaves and buds.

So kief is basically synonomous with trichomes, just that they're called trichomes when they are still on the plant but they are called kief when they fall off the plant?

And resin then is just multiple trichomes?

Kinda seems like they're all the same thing :-D

They are all the same thing. Trichomes are singular glands, resin is just the mass of thrichomes, kief is dried trichomes. aAd to add one more hash is kief that's been pressed.

yes, kief is dried trichs that have fallen/taken off of plant material.
hash, oil, wax, shatter, all a collection of trichs, just processed a different way
