a plant show sex after throwing them on 12/12?


yesterday afternoon, i put 3 -3- week old seedlings into my flowering room on 12/12 to sex them. i thought to myself it may be a bit early, but needing the extra room, i figured id try...

put them on 12/12 yesterday afternoon around 4pm. today around 3pm, i went out to check my girls ( my 12/12 runs from 3am to 3 pm so i can use the lights during a portion of the evening to heat the room as its still in the freezing range at night here.) today, and went to move the 3 plants out of the way. i looked down and happened to notice right away that one ALREADY HAD FLOWER PISTLES POPPING OUT and one of the others already started to show male flowers.

so in exactly 1 12 hour night period, 2 of the 3 were already showing CLEAR signs of sex. get that!...



ive been growing damn near 30 years, and i have NEVER had plants show sex that freakin fast, that young.....

i guess that means ive got optimum flowering conditions in my flowering room eh?.....HAHAH!

ill see if i can get a picture of the female pistles. i rubbed the male preflowers off the one that showed male.

before putting them on 12/12 to sex, they were on complete 24 hour a day 400W metal halide.

its pretty amazing as like i said, ive never had plants sex this fast.

welll those plants probably just mature faster than other strains you have because you can get preflowers in veg so perhaps the 12/12 wasn't really as responsible as you might think. I had a male show sex after about 4 weeks of veg this round.

Fastest I've had probably doesn't count, but my Roadrunner(autoflower) showed at 10 days from breaking soil.

you have to remeber though, these are all three 3 week old seedling JUST starting veg, and on top of that, 3 different strains ( 1 true grand daddy purple, one juicyfruit and one juicyfruit/white widow cross).

i can also attest to the fact that none of them had any indications of sex beforehand (I.E. no real preflowers)

i kind of suspected the sex of all three though. generally males will grow taller and lankier with fewer nodes and branches, and females usually have more nodes and branches.

AUTOFLOWER!....that dont count man!...thats CHEATIN!.....lol!

HEY, let me ask ya, how do you like the autoflower strains?....i guess you just cant teach an old dog new tricks, cause i prefer to control when my plants flower and mature .

i havent a clue how early an autoflower strain is supposed to show, is 10 days pretty early? id figure so myself.....
