You asked for tips not in depth explanations. The title asks what's the hype? Autos are mostly hype and are marketed to people with little to no growing experience and little inclination to learn.
I think you have it backwards. Yes autos can flower without a flip of the light but thats about it in comparison. You fuck up on them in veg ...reduce yields. Over feeding, crappy light, poor ppm, nutrient locks which they are so susceptible depending on strain that can fuck them up in veg with little time to fix the issue and that reduces yield.
A photo can be left in veg as long
YOU want it to to fix any issues before going into veg. There is also the fact that photos can be abused beyond belief with HSTing, cropping and defoliation.
If you comment on potency then there are high thc % strains also being produced already. Yield? Yeah people are pulling almost 2 pounds with a DWC/scrog set up with 5 plants in a 4x4 space. So markerted that they are "easy" can all depend on the person growing them in the end. Only reason I would choose a auto still is the time it takes to grow, mold resistant and can handle extreme temperatures better then a photo.
