There are in general four primary factors affecting plant growth, light, water, temperature and nutrients, including CO2, nitrogen, phosphorus and others.

ROOT ZONE , you can have the best light set up, but if you dont look after the root zone, your wasting your time if you ask me.
plenty of rich organic matter to chose what to digest and when to digest it, and plenty of airation to them for oxygen and drainage.
temprature, i offten plant a pot inside a large buckett with some insulation in it to keep it nice n cozy
that and as above, your starting material.
put them all together, and your on your way
