Whats your take on Tupac?

Tupac was a brilliant poet and songwriter and his mother's struggles as a black panther and poor single mother in America gave him the potential to be a powerful voice in the young community. Unfortunately his acceptance of the death row lifestyle and his willingness to embody that stereotypical image of the gansta rapper undermined his ability to effectively relay his message. I personally think it is a shame he died a such a young age; many of the most influential people had a dark period in their youth that they eventually emerge from as a better person. There is no telling what he would have accomplished had he lived.

i wonder how many homicides he influenced. :-|

His mother's stuggles as ablack panther? I find it hard to feel sad for anyone who supports seggregation and racism.
The black panthers were formed in response to the unspeakable treatment of blacks in America; i am not saying that I agree with their beliefs, but they were an understandable result of the times. I am sure you wouldn't take being treated as a second class citizen lying down. And yes, I do think Tupac and his mother's life experiences coupled with his talent positioned him to be a meaningful character in history. (which he clearly was as evidenced by this thread)

Understandable? Do you know even know what they stood for? They DEMANDED free land, housing, food, clothes, military draft exemption, and exception from criminal liability. Not to mention, didn't the leader go to jail for manslaughter?

Buddy i lived in the era of the black panthers & all the race riots, not the shit they show on the history channel that white washes all the horrible acts they perpetuated on innocent people of other races but the real deal.

The black panthers of yesteryear were not the political minded lot portrayed on tv,they were a gang of thugs & murderers who's main goal was to terrorize innocents for their own purposes, not the equal treatment of all people.

"The Revolution has come, it's time to pick up the gun. Off the pigs!" -black panthers

Nuff said.

ignorant is idolizing a killer or the thought of being a killer. pretty much what ALL rap is or ever was.:clap:
it can be argued that the ignorance would lie in the fact that you believe all rap is about killing.. obviously youve never heard tupac?? Dont stereotype rap, if you dont like it, dont listen to it. Newer rap has a lot to do with killing and stealing and all that kinda shit.. and that, i do not like, however other people do and thats fine. When it comes to tupac, biggie smalls, Luniz.. all those guys rap about life.. sooo.. are you saying that those people are ignorant because they werent born into a society or family that offered as much opportunity as your own, and because they were given an opportunity to make some money for themselves and they took it??

tupac didnt have opportunity? he was a fuckin play-write and an actor. his "dope game" that he spat, was all an act that he got shot for. he aint ganster, gangster aint cool.

lemme express to you, in my opinion, the only time gangsters were cool.

"hey Rock-o whaddaya wanna do tonight, boss"
"Myeaaah, See, It's gunna go down like this Mugsy, seeeee.. we're gunna blast those coppers, myeaaa see, then we get the dough and away we go, ya get me buddy-boy?"

anyways,
tupac's music isnt that good(also my opinion.)

edit: AND ONE MORE THING

why is it when someone asks me if i listen to rap, and they eventually get to tupac, they always start with. "Well you have to admit tupac was one of the greatest."

i dont have to admit shit, i think his raps are garbage, i think his fans are consume-whores and i think his entire image was as plastic as it could be.

ALSO ONE MOOOOOOOORE THING

ballet aint gangster, unless he was doing westsidestory, which he wasnt.
(homeboy studied it in college)

Racists hate Tupac.. Tupac was alot more than just a "Thug".. Actually the thug shit was just a stage "persona".. He had many many layers like an onion ( wait, didnt I hear the same shit on Shrek? ).. Most ppl who have never heard but 1-2 songs of Tupacs and hate rap anyway just lable him a lowlife.. Im not going to go into the man in depth.. But I reccomend anyone who hasnt, to research the man that died way too soon.. Tupac Amaru Shakur.. You will most likely be surprised at what you find out.

Peace and Love

Alright, im interested.. i personally find Tupac to be one of the brightest individuals to ever step foot onto the set.. but thats my own opinion, I wanna know what you think.

Theres a lot of talk about whether or not he was as good as he was, or if hes still alive.. anything you wanna talk about, throw it out there!
the set? that is another word for what? a coffin?

i wanna see this brilliance. did he cure a disease? help the homeless? save starving children? or are we just talking about his words? his words are brilliant? let me try again.......

Tupac Shakur said:

“For every dark night, there's a brighter day”

“During your life, never stop dreaming. No one can take away your dreams”

“I know it seems hard sometimes but remember one thing.
Through every dark night, theres a bright day after that.
So no matter how hard it get, stick your chest out, keep ya head up.... and handle it.
”

“In golf as in life it is the follow through that makes the difference.”

fucking brilliant.
