Hey everyone! I looked around some but Im looking for someone who can tell me when I can expect to determine the sex of my plants. I know what to look for but im just not sure wen i can expect to see something start to happen. they are in pots outdoors and coming up on 5 nodes now. will they just keep vegging until i change the light to 12/12? or can i just expect them to flower on their own? if left to flower on their own how long before i can determine the sex? thanks for any help, appreciate it..

if they are forever outside than you can see the sex about 2 weeks after the light starts to decrease in your area. i think its early august ish in cali.

if you leave them outside mother nature will flower them on their own.

hey guys thanks. im actually on the east coast, but i have a better understanding now. i planted them a bit late this year and i am wondering if i should put them on a 12/12 schedule just until i determine the sex and then put them back outside to start the veg process again natuarlly until they do start to flower on their own. Anyone think this is a good/bad idea or should i just wait it out and let nature take its course? thanks again..happy growing-

I would say it depends on where you live on the east coast. If you live up north like me, it wouldn't be such a good idea because you'll lose too much growing time. My goal is to get em outside as soon as the frost is gone, and get em harvested before frost gets bad. Frost and cold temps can lead to dead plants or a big mold and bud rot problem.

If you live in the warmer south it may not be such a problem.

My plants show their female pistils at about 4 weeks, when they're male they don't show for several weeks longer on a normal veg light cycle.

I wouldn't sex them inside it is far to late. If you put them outdoors after you sex them it can take up to amonth for them to return to veg and your plants will begin flowering in the start of sept.
