When do i switch to flower ?

I grew 3 outdoor plants in 5 gallon pots last year. I can tell you they will eventually need constant watering once or twice daily and lots of nutrients as they will use up all of what’s in the soil pretty quick.

Having said that, it is doable and I got a pretty solid harvest of almost 2 pounds off of the 3 plants. When I did chop them and take them out of the pots, they were rootbound as hell!

I switched to 20 gallon fabric pots for this year so I don’t have to worry

Thank you ! Needed to hear that from some one who grew in 5 gall pots, did you have to flower early or they flowered fine on there own ? Im up watering every 3 days right now its been rainy and cloudy last 4 days but sat sun mon suppose to be hot was gonna water today but slept in its 430pm now prob to late to water eh prob water them tomorrow morning be better you think? Its hard to check cause i cant stick my finger that deep cause the roots are near the top now i think

I let them flower on their own, and they went for way longer than expected. I’m in Northern CA and didn’t harvest until mid September and probably could’ve let them go for another week or 2 but these damn wildfires had other ideas. As far as watering goes I suppose they might drink more when it’s hotter, but eventually those roots are gonna completely encircle the pot and be thirsty no matter what you do. I alway water in the AM.

Ya im in chilliwack bc canada its 40mins from vancouver its been cloudy and rainy last 2 months barely been getting sun its been a terrible start to summer, and ya think the roots are close to circling i cant stick my finger in the dirt to check if need to water anymore i put them in these pots on may 15th so almost 2 months now

I just switched my nutes to transition into flower my buddy did it is it to early ? Should I switch it back to veg or leave it ?

they look great man just keep doing what youre doing. the difference between growth and flower nutrients is minute. many people use flower nutrients full cycle.

I'm in Oregon and i have preflower showing on my outdoor photos. I started feeding less N more PK minerals in there watering today. 5-10-5 is what i use during bloom and added bone meal to the soil. I also give a watering of Epsom salts it is very good for keeping soil + roots happy in windy, hot & dry environments. Which i have going on now. :) Good luck
