You, my friend, are confused. Very few places in the world ever get 18 hours of light per day. It is when the light cycle gets down towards 12 hours a day (it will likely start at 14 or 13 hours of light per day). The light cycle gets shorter as summer goes on, signaling that fall is coming, which is what makes the plant start flowering. So it is definitely not random, but it is a little tough to say. It depends somewhat on the strain and your location, but I think the very beginning of August is a reasonable estimate. Can someone please confirm or deny this?

i was initially confused about when my plants would flower in the southern hem until i was surfin riu, did some reading and worked it out.

it would of saved me alot of hassle!

itll give u a good idea of when flowering will happen in your area, and you will have to wait till then to seen signs of sex...

with my little experience i have found that the males with very likely flower before your girls, and i didnt have any trouble removing them before they could nut on my ladies

good luck!

peace.

I did some research, and found that the plant notices when the days become shorter so they will start to begin the flowering stage a few weeks after the longest day of the year
