When heat is not an issue, can there be too much light?

Is it possible to have too many bulbs going during the 18 hours of light if the plants are getting too hot? (I have a fan and good ventilation.)

Personally I want to veg under my plant lights. It's easier, I have 2 48"s set up allready, and I want to go buy more. They're don't give off much heat. Plus the fan... Can I put more in there and have lots of light for the plants if I keep the temp down? Or can this be a problem?

As long as you keep the temp. down you can have as many lights as you want. But technically... there comes a point when the plants won't be able to absorb energy at an efficient rate compared to the energy you are lighting with... but since you only have 2 48's more would def help

i dont know at what point there is too much but you can have too much the plant actually starts converting the eccess and releasing it as heat and slows photosnthisis but if you have co2 and every othe factor naild down you can get away with a lot but if you dnt have co2 extra light wouldnt be worth it i usually go with between 5-7000 lumens psf up to 10000 any its brighter than the sun and the sun isnt that bright all day it peaks and than drops so by having 10000psf all day your plants already getting more light than the world out side and is a waste of energy so 5-7000 or 10 with co2

If you end up using a bunch of lights the only other limitting factor would be CO2, so might want to add that if you get a lot of lights..

[EDIT]: tussel beat me to it hah
