When should I flush?

I have 3 different strains in different stages of flowering. They've all been going about 8 weeks, but some are making a lot more progress than others. What are some signs I should look for to determine when I should be flushing? Also, I've been using advanced nutrients overdrive on some plants that aren't going to be ready in time to flush after 2 weeks of overdrive. Should I continue using overdrive after 2 weeks or stop using it and just use bloom nutes? Any help is greatly appreciated!

DO you know what a ripe bud Looks like ? Do you know if you are growing Indicas or sativa's? 8 weeks for most is about ready to harvest. Unless it mainly sativa. then 10-12 weeks for flowering. The point I need to get across is I would rather have a ripe bud non flushed than a flushed over ripened bud that has started to lose potency. Look at trichs and if you have no way of doing that (scope) then judge by Pistils.

Normaly a indica dominate plant gets flushed in the 6th week and a Sativa dominate plant 9-10th week. (2 weeks before harvest).

But I say just do a proper cure if you missed your flush and need to harvest.

You shoulda use the bloom nutes right when you got into the flowering phase. And if its indica like the guy said stop using the nutes about 6 weeks in and use straight up clean water.

You know I have always done a double flush 2 weeks before and no nutes except for molases. But I am wondering this...The plant has been getting nutes all her life, then when she is kicking major ass (last 2 weeks) she gets all her nutes drained away and goes without. Now if that where me and I was getting vitamins all my life and when I get in my prime and I stop all of a sudden, well that would screw me up, slow me down. What about the plant? I think I am going to do a regular double flush then just go with 1/4 nutes/molases last 2 weeks.
What do you think Mystic?

You should start flushing a week before you expect the bracts to start swelling, generally.

You have to grow a particular strain a few times to get a handle on the timing.

That's what I am saying, the bracts start swelling the last 2 weeks, why do we want to cut out all the nutes? I know all the reasons, but I am willing to bet with a double flush then just 1/4 nutes and molases till harvest then a goood cure, I say it will be a fine smoke. With larger than life buds.

For once a decent question and someone willing to learn,i flush my plants at least 3/4 times during the veg period this does not mean that valuble feed is been lost far from it excess salt is been flushed out of the plants.during the flowering period about 4 time including the last before harvest.a tip is flush when you are makeing a new batch of nutes this is what i do i flush with water at least 4 times till water runs clean.once the water is clean then i will add a feed leave the to stand for a while after though because the water that will come out within a hour or so is unreal it will flood your grow room.i always leave them in the bath to get rid of the excess water.flush with water set at around 5.0/5.5 and they will do fine you also will be very supprised on the problems flushing reg takes away.

ya tyke that makes sense, thanks. I'll have to try flushing once in awhile next time around, but I'm on week 9 of flowering as of now. I'm about to start flushing the first set of plants for 2 weeks, then the next set in another 2 weeks, and then the next in about 4 weeks from now. A group of plants I had growing didn't start to bud until about 6 weeks into flowering! I had thought they were male or herms for so long, but they never showed signs and just started to take off haha
