It is my first grow, i had 11 northern lights i germinated 7 succesfully, they are now 17 days old, i have one very strong plant she is about 3 inches tallerthan the rest of them,and growing the fastest!! they are under two 30watt flourescent in tent, i am going to add more lighting for veg period,and i have 400hps for flower,just wanted to know when to start feeding them and when to add more lighting?? should i wait till baby leaves fall off and then start feeding them?? help would be much appreiciated thanks, dudes!!

Great strain!!
Unfortunately, the tallest one outta the batch is probably a male.
They usually outperform the females in heighth.
If there almost 3 weeks old, I would give them a small dose of veg nutes now.
And I would also think about using the 400 hps on em soon.
400 Watts are not going to harm em at all.
I run a 430 watter almost immediately with great results.
Keep the light a good distance away for the first week.
They will grow much faster with hps than with flo's.

Nah you can start now with low doses of nutes.. it sounds as if you are already veging. The germination stage is only about a week and then the vegging process begins. you'll need more light tho add it now. luck to you smokedog

I mean, I feel that you will be fine to start giving them low doses of nutes now and throw a 400 over them but what do I know

i start feeding at 1/4 strength at around day 11. or you can wait until the plant has 3 alternating internodes. it sounds like your light may be too far away, and are experiencing stretching. easy to do with fluorescents. move the light closer...

Fem seeds... Ok.
I only use a flo light when im trying to get roots in a humidity dome.
Then after that they got transplanted, and put directly under my 430watt hps.
I would advise you to use the 400hps watter from start to finish...after rooting of course.

You can definately use the hps throughout all stages, you'll get better results than with two little cfls. Though it would be better if you had a MH bulb for veg. You got an electronic ballast? If you do you could probably go out and buy a 400watt MH bulb and throw that in there.
