My friend has a outdoor bucket grow, and was wondering when he should stop topping. He stopped on June 21 from the advice from another friend, but plants are still growing like hell. Would one more topping do harm or should he leave them be?? Growing area is around northern nc/skunk. Thanks

Depending on how far along the plant is in veg stage, a single topping would hardly phase the plant. If its two months old or more, another topping will do nothing but enhance your yield in the long run.

Thanks for the reply potologist. The plants are a few months old, and have been topped a few times already. Problem is someone told my buddy that after june 21 the plants start to change, and should not be topped again. Has anyone else heard this, and if so is there any truth to it, or is someone blowing smoke up his ass???

you can top has may times has you want untill you start bloom.... just allow 2-3 weeks inbetween toppings to let the plant grow out a lil

I hate topping. If anything it slows down growth and gives you smaller buds.

Maybe when you grow a few plants you will realize this... maybe not.

When you top the hormones of the plant change from growing up to growing out. Indoors this is very desirable and it will help with yield. Outdoors it is counter productive.

You might have a reason that you want to top, for stealth, to keep the plant short and unseen. But that does not mean it will increase yield.

When you top a growing arm that one big bud will turn into two smaller ones. How is that an increase ?

It only seems like it is because you have a higher number of buds. But the buds are not as large and do not yield more then the single bud would have.

And topping the same plant multiple times is just hurting the overall capability of the plant. Its NOT increasing your yield each time you top it.

your entitled to beleave what you want man but your wrong.... topping properly could more then double your yield!

many more slightly smaller but much more numerous bud will always yield more then mainly single cola plants with one main huge ass bud

Yeah Dude I have to agree with thee express, check out this monster that has been topped like eight times and now has too many arms to begin to count. Since this lady is just entering the preflower stretch, I would say I stand to harvest many mega buds.

I'm a big fan of supercropping, and it pretty much has the same effect on the number of arms your plant will develop ,and it's realy good to keep the plants low without cutting anything, you might wanna take a look into it.

Yea, supercropping is much better because it does not cause stress to the plant like topping does.

I have two mother plants outside this year, One is untopped and the other is supercropped.

The super cropped plant is about 3 feet tall and wide and the untopped plant is 5 feet tall with many arms also.

In a few months I will have data as to what is better.

i lst inside and love it was gonna do that outside also but since my outdoor grow is only 100 ft from the metro tracks didnt have time to be out there staking and tying shit so i tried it on 2 cause id never done it and didnt wanna mess em all up but have found it to be really easy you might inadvertently top one or 2 learning but its worth it just snap them all outwards i got one looks like a mushroom top is 5ft across atleast cant wait for it to get top heavy
