When should you use molasses products in a grow?

I'm planning on using RO Trinity. Can anyone share their knowledge about using Trinity or any molasses products in their grow?

Use Unsulphered Blackstrap molasses (I use Grandma's). Start with 1tsp/gallon and work your way up. I'd say to start like halfway through veg.

You add 1 tablespoons of unsulphured blackstrap molasses per gallon of water during the last 3 weeks of flowering. (Some use it from day 1 of flowering). How are you growing it?

Why only flowering? It adds good micronutes for veg as well.

well that depends on what you are feeding your plants really. the only reason to use the molasses imo is to get that good extra swell in your buds. i have heard some say it adds 10-20% in weight. i doubt 20% but it does add weight.

btw if you use that stuff to much your soil gets all gummy and then bugs become a concern.

I'm growing in RO soil and I have RO Trinity. It says that it's a " plant and rhizoshere catalyst ", I just want to cut through the advertising and see if it works. It has molasses and kelp extract along with humic acid and a few other extracts.

It swells them up because it provides the micronutes the plant wants.

I found my answer but thank you. Molasses is said to increase soil microbials, enhance regrowth and make the plant's use of nitrogen more efficient. It was in my book but it took a bit more looking.

It also says that it will raise the energy level of the plant and acts as a mild natural fungicide.

im a soil guy trying to go hydro. the earth juice is like $15 a gallon at the all american by my house. its cheap and it even designates soil application right on the bottle.

use should try it out. its worth the price at 2 tsp a gallon.

I'm sure it's more of a hype, molasses has all the micronutes you'd need without some formula. I'll read up on it and see if I should try it out, thanks for bringin it to my attention :P

For what it's worth I'll post the results of the RO Trinty that I bought. From what I've read about the ingredients seperately and not all the sales hype, it looks like it'll have a positive effect. It does cost more than $15 a gallon though.

The earth juice molasses is not all hype, it has a higher brix count then most black strap molasses. I'm an EJ consumer so slightly biased you might say. But I have switched over to powdered form molasses and haven't notice any huge difference....

Oh wait a minute.... I guess that means a little bit of hype. lol

No brother, you missed what I was saying. I meant all the sales hype the advertisers shove down one's throat. I'm all for trying new products if it helps quality. I'm doing the RO routine because of the ingredients and I've stayed away from the advertisers claims. My girl is still young so I have'nt used nutes on her yet, the soil has sufficed. I'm curious what experiences others might have had with the same products or variations of them. All advice and opinions are welcome.

Glad you found good info on molasses. you really only need to use it a few times in the grow. I got to the point I only use it about every 3 weeks or so. mixed a tsp per gal and watered with that about a 1/3 of the total water used per pot then finished up with regular water. If you go every watering you'll get a crust on the top of the soil. The used soil is great in composting. that's my 2 penny's.
