When to change from MH to HPS

I switched to 12/12 a couple days ago. I have 1000 MH bulb still in place. I have an eye hortilux on standby for flower. I was going to wait a couple weeks before i switched over to avoid stretch, is this line of thinking correct?

I am a noob, but it sounds right to me. Also remember that the closer your light the closer the nodes.

I changed from MH to CFL after a few electric bill's. For me MH sucks unless Im doing like 4-5 at a time. If you switched to 12/12 put your HPS in. It is going to stretch anyway when you switch, they just do.

Not a bad idea; and it's probably less stressful ( b/c it spreads out the amount of environmental changes you throw at them at one time). Throw your MH bulb back on for the last 3-5 weeks and you'll see a nice increase in resin production. The higher UVB rays from the MH make the plant produce more resin as a sun block. I like to experiment with various strains - I grow at 11on/13of as well, heavier yields+longer flower.

Should of put your HPS bulb in before you went 12/12 thats just my input though. Make sure to water on time after you put your HPS in. Maybe some vitamin B to help with stress.

Yes, I run the mh bulb a couple weeks into flower before switching to hps. I have just a little stretch and the nodes stay tight.

Converted to a LED Area51-160 last year. It has a switch for grow and flowering leds. Basically I do the same thing. I run white leds two weeks into flower before flipping on the red lights replicating my bulb switch on the old HID lighting.

Good luck on the grow green217.
