When to harvest

Hello everyone, first time grower and first time posting a thread so go easy if I'm posting in the wrong section or if questions have been answered else where.

Basically I'm coming up to week 9 with the quick one strain (supposedly easy to grow for beginners) hence why I chose this strain, to see results. So this is supposed to be an 8 week strain but as stated sometimes can take 9-10 weeks to finish. I'm basically trying to get a 10 day flush in before harvest and trying to time it right so I'm not too early and impact the swell (if any) and not too late to affect the amber trichomes going too far. 1 or 2 amber trichomes are beginning to be seen on sugar leaves but not on the bud themselves. Some of the pistils are brown and receding back but there is also a lot of white hairs pointing up and out. As I'm trying to do a flush and timed right is there a rule of how many hairs should be brown before doing a flush? Should you start a flush when amber trichomes start to show on sugar leaves? (expecting them to turn on buds 10 days after) or should you only begin a flush when you notice amber on the buds?

My plants have been fed organic nutrients and are in organic compost under a mars hydro ts600 (would totally recommend to the beginner but I have no experience with any other lights). The light schedule is 18/6, no lst which I didn't realise would be helpful but will definitely add that in to my next grow.

Thanks in advance

not even close. Update with a new picture in 4-5 weeks.
Oh, is that how long? Could it of possibly been set back due to issues I had with yellowing early on in flower? I was ph'ing water with a 2 prong metre then quickly went out and bought a digital reader and drenched the pots with water ph'd 6.5. cut of the yellow leaves and seemed to recover about a week or 2 later. Would that have stalled growth? Cheers

Weeks to go and WELCOME to RIU :weed:
Continue with nutes then? Thank you and I'm happy I'm here.

What should I be looking for to time a 10 day flush? Any suggestions. I'm thinking as soon as I see 1 amber trichome on buds then a 10 flush should be cool or would they turn quick and be past there best at that point?

Cheers

I have no idea because my experience is flushing is a myth

Could be many reasons why they’re taking longer then expected, the biggest one is that breeders flowering times are useless. And I’m with Herb on the flushing part, also useless.

Well to be honest I'm under the same consumption. I can see it taking the nutrients out of the soil, leaves and the stem but how it could possibly effect the flower is beyond me. You'll only be starving the plant for it to use it's reserves to feed the flower, the flower is the end product for the nutrients in my eyes. The only possible explanation I can think is if you don't flush once you cut the plant the reserves will still be feeding the flower from the nutes in the stem, leaves etc during drying. I'm just flushing because that's what I've heard. I realise there is a debate and people that say they do flush they see a difference and the people that don't flush say they don't see a difference........ And I think it's them little words (you'll see a difference) that make you assume it's the best thing to do

That is looking nice. Never ever believe seed suppliers on the flowering period. It takes as long as it takes. They have a few weeks to go. Invest in a Jeweller's Loupe, they are super cheap and are great for telling you exactly when it is ready.

Also, the very concept of flushing is utter rubbish.

The strain is called "Quick One". It doesn't seem that quick to me lol
i haven't did a indoor grow but i noticed you said your light schedule is 18/6, i think if you go a 12/12 schedule during flowering, but some of these guys on here who do indoor grow might can answer that question. hope this help.

Quick One is an Auto. Really it should be on 24/0 if grown indoors, 20/4 at a push. Only photo period plants need 12/12 to trigger flowering.

I want to say thanks to everyone for the advice given, it is really appreciated and has been taken on board. Only advice I'm not taking is the 24/0 light cycle which I do believe would be better for an auto strain but as I'm sleeping in the same room, them 6 hours off give me quiet and rest.

Many thanks
