When to start final flush?

Hey, first time flowering, should be around week 4 or 5 I believe. I havent been keeping track too well since they started what I thought was obviously flowering (white hairs started growing) while I was out of town about 4 weeks ago, but were in 12/12 for almost two weeks before that with no obvious signs. (bushmaster seemed to kick it into flower real fast)

Strains I believe are Bubba and OG kush under T5's and some CFLs on the sides. Room is too bright to take pics with my webcam or I would have some pr0n.

Question: I was told by a good friend that he starts his flush when 50% of the hairs are red/orange. I am getting close to that ratio but feel like it might be too early to start flushing in a week or less from now. Just wondering what the signs that most people look for in hybrid/indica dominants.

Any opinions are appreciated.

It's really worth it to get a little microscope and look at the trichs. Don't gestimate, don't sell yourself short at the very end, most of the work is already done. $15 well spent and you will have it for the future.

What should I be looking for in the thrichs to know I should start flushing? A little bit of amber? I know they will continue to change while flushing and a little bit during drying/curing. I just dont really know exactly what indicators to look for that will let me know its time to start flushing. I just dont want to start too early is all. I have plenty of patience.

I'm interested in this as well...I want to flush my DWC for 2 weeks...I know what to look for in the final product when I chop, but what should the plants look like 2 weeks before??

I'm very close as well....My Medusa, Aurora Indica, and Snow White are about 7 weeks into flowering this Saturday (9/25) and they should be finished in 9-10 weeks per breeder.

bump for an informative answer/link. my buddy i spoke of previously is bringing me his magnifying glass, would just like a little guidance.

I really appreciate the help, but unless I am missing something, that link is all about harvesting. Judging the color/ratio of the trichs around harvest is not what I am worried about at this point, but when to start the flushing prior to harvest based on signs from the ladies.

I generally check the trichs each time I enter my room. You will see them grow as they start out as little bumps on the leaves - then straight stalks (clear) - then stalks with balls on the top (clear turning white). When the trichs have reached totally white is when I start to flush, as I grow primarily sativa and like the head high. For more body high watch the trichs turn amber. I use Final Phase to flush and I run continuously for 6 hrs ( AN recommended ) then flush normal times for 4 or 5 days. There will be some change in trich color as flush continues but not much, so what you see when you start is pretty much what you will get. If you are flushing for longer, as some do, this will change as longer time means greater color change. Hope this helps

I always harvest at 9 weeks (63 days of 12/12) and flush 10-14 days prior to that. Flushing is not an exact science. There really is no exact amount of time to flush but, from my experience, as long as you flush for 7-14 days you should be fine.

Whatever you do don't forget to wipe before you flush :D
