When to start flowering?

I've been successfully growing a few plants for about a month and a half and they're all about a foot to 14 inches tall. I've heard mix reviews of growing them as big as i want then starting flowering and others say if you're in a confined space as i am to start around a foot since the plants will continue to grow a good amount during flowering.

i've done a fair amount of research but asking fellow urban gardeners with experience is probably one of the best ways to learn what i need. So fellow gardeners my question is when is the best time to start my flowering? Any other advice you want to throw my way will also be accepted.

Some people veg intill pre flowers, that's "mother natures way"

Let's say I have a 3' high space, pot- 6" high, light- 12" high

That gives me only a foot and a half left. Plants double, sometimes triple in flowering. So if your not tying the plant down, you could only go 6"

See what I mean?

I see what you mean.

I would tie the plant down but being a total noob at this im still learning a lot about the training and pruning deals. I like the idea of waiting for nature to decide when to flower but limited space makes that difficult so i guess i need to start the flowering process soon. Just need to get little bit bigger pots for my final transfer and go from there.

I usually wouldnt transfer them much but if they're going to keep growing i want to make sure they have all the room they need.

I can easily take pictures of my children, but this is also just the learning experience to say "hey, i grew it and i made it." once i get a basic down then im stepping the game up.

LST and super cropping always good to make the best of what space you have. how much vertical space do you have left?

I would suggest LST too if you don't have the vertical height. One of my plants worked well with it, the other sorta took to the training, yet still kept growing up, lol. I'm afraid she's going to be too big for my space.

I could do some LST but im not too worried seeing as how this is still just the "can i do this and make it work" first time. If i really needed to i could easily get another 3 feet of vertical height, but i dont want my plants getting too big just yet, not until the next go around where i can really make things happen.

I have a good collection of seeds here that are dying to be used but its once i get some good experience. However since I'm on the subject of seeds i've been having trouble germinating my Himalayan Gold and Super Silver Haze seeds. They just dont seem to want to crack and the very very few that have havent started growing once they did. Any advice on that? I use the wet paper towel method for germinating.

I flower my plants at 12-14 inches maybe a little bigger and depending on strain they will double in size while in flower.
