When to transplant?

My plants are about 5 inches tall and I have each of them in their own 12ounce size styrofoam cup. How much taller should they be before I should transplant them into their final container?

it is less about size then roots to decide this one, as soon roots show at the drainage hole you have to act. height of plant is only important for the size of the next pot which should hold the volume of soil in gallons as the max size of the plant in foot should be in this one:roll:

You'll know when it's truly necessary to re-pot. Roots generally grow proportional to the plant that they are supporting. For a 5" plant your current pot should be fine for a while. When it starts looking uncomfortable, then re-pot :)
