Where are the Mexican genetics?

Other than AK-47, which genetics carry any Mexican genetics?

I am old enough to remember bricked Mexican shwag weed that we'd buy for $15 a "lid" (lol). It tasted like green hay…was terribly grown/processed…but was FULL of shiny dark, oily seeds! I always wondered what might have happened if some of those seeds had been grown with loving care and selectively bred for a few generations.

Discuss?

I've grown mexican brick seeds hydroponically, there was one specifically that knocked my socks off. A few tokes, and everything looked and felt like a cartoon. The rest were average.

Ace and/or Cannabiogen have some Mexican strains. They look beautiful although they are long flowering, 16 weeks or more. Looks very high quality and apparently is limited in case you are interested. I think the mug shop and beansman has them.

4 landrace mexican sativa's are about to be released by "El Tiberon". Jalisco - Oaxacan - Michoacan - Acapulco Gold

You can already buy Jalisco mixed with Haze or Chocolope on Sannie's Shop

Here is the thread by El Tiberon announcing his intentions, he risked his life to steal those seeds.

You need to go back to fifth grade, every post you make on this site is like reading through some five year olds story.

Finding pure mexican is like finding a needle in a haystack.

I have lived close to the border for over 20 years of my growing life and have yet to find the "Pure" mexican sativa.

At this point I think it may not even exist anymore due to all the cross-breeding that is now done..

I'm growing some "AZ Bud" aka Arizona Bud aka Bud from Arizona that was shipped into the states via Mexico aka Really Shwaggy looking compressed bud full of delicious ceeds that could possibly be old school Mexican Genetics (Oaxacan, Acapulco Gold, and such) -- They look pretty impressive; a bit less vigorous than I want but the bud I smoked was really heavy and greasy; quite nice; smelled super potent. You definitely can grow dank-looking bud from any seed; how "potent" it is ABLE to become will depend on the genetics in the seed... I pollinated one of the AZ Bud females with a New England bagseed from a mainstream commercial grower; should be delicious. Nice post.

lowryderlove^^^^^This is what I fear for many of the old strains. It seems that many people just got caught up in trying to make the perfect strain….and in doing so, lost a lot of the landrace varieties. Now, whether those landrace varieties were worth it or not, on a commercial basis, there had to be a few that were unique tasting and worth it to the private growers and connoisseurs.

And, at this point, I'm in it for flavor. I doubt that I can ever get "wrecked" without going to silly extents to do so….and that's just not my style at this point in time. lol. But I'd like to find out IF there are true Mexican strains still available and what they'd be like to grow one. I'll bet some would produce that skunk, petroleum-tar smell that I've been looking for.

Thanks for the information. I'll check a few of those seed sources out and see if the seeds look like the ones I remember. They were actually kinda unique-looking seeds….very dark….very shiny…some were very large.

Thai was the first landrace that was considered amazing by itself and Zamal Reunion (landrace) is getting a reputation for being intense and freaky, it's the only strain by Seeds of Africa to sell out on all sites, some of the seeds are big fat and very dark.
