Canadians the age of majority in their province can grow up to four plants a household, yet there is no legal means to obtain seeds.

SHAREADJUSTCOMMENTB.C. Cannabis Stores still hasn’t been supplied with any seeds, and licensed producers aren’t yet shipping their full product commitments to its warehouse.

“None of the (licensed producers) has been able to supply seeds, and we do not know when they will,” spokesman Viviana Zannoco said in an email.

A spokeswoman for the Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission said they, too, do not know when seeds will arrive.

“Right now, regular production is the priority for licensed producers so they are focusing on trying to fulfil market demand,” Chara Goodings said in an email.

Health Canada said in an emailed statement that supply arrangements are negotiated directly between licensed producers and the provincial or territorial agencies in charge of distribution. A new “nursery licence,” which allows licensees to propagate, cultivate and harvest plants and seeds for other licence holders, will help grow the starting materials industry, Health Canada said.

But licensed producers say they are focused on meeting Canada’s massive demand for ready-to-consume products first.

Just two of the 132 licensed producers of medical cannabis in Canada, Canopy Growth and CannTrust, are listed on Health Canada’s website as vendors of seeds for medical purposes, and both have made supply agreements with provincial governments for recreational cannabis products, too.

Jordan Sinclair, vice-president of communications for Canopy, explained that his firm made getting dried flower, pre-rolled joints and oil products to the market its top priority, but also determined that most home growers intend to plant outdoors, next spring.

“It’s just one of the things that will come a little bit later,” he said.

CannTrust said in an emailed statement that it is focusing on meeting customers’ immediate demand for dried flower and oil products.

“We will take a look (at) seed sales in the future to determine if it makes sense for our product lineup,” the company said.

Meantime, Rebecca Ambrose, owner of the Vancouver Seed Bank, which is not government licensed, said her sales for October have at least tripled, with many Canadians ordering her bank’s illicit seeds online because they have no legal option.

“I’m honestly confused as to why they don’t have seeds available online, as well as in retail, because my understanding, at least, is that the (licensed producers) had partnered with companies like DNA Genetics, Greenhouse, and House of the Great Gardener, and the whole point of that was that they would have seeds available from those companies,” Ambrose said.

Ambrose said producing seeds isn’t difficult and a single fertilized female cannabis plant can yield thousands. The biggest issue for her seed bank with obtaining seeds is that they remain illegal and can get seized by customs agents.

She said she’s disappointed that the government has established a possession limit of 30 cannabis seeds.

“I think the government’s making a mistake by classifying seeds at all,” she said. “There’s no basis in science for that, there’s no need to limit people’s seed possession.”

It is really sad, again medical users have to take a back seat. Just yesterday I mentioned the seed fiasco to my wife. She checked an said Tweed and CannTrust. I corrected her, yes you are supposed to buy seeds from them. but they have none because ....
But licensed producers say they are focused on meeting Canada’s massive demand for ready-to-consume products first.
I would never buy them there anyway but the lack of availability is plausible deniability. The reality is that when my wife bought from Tweed in 2016 a lot of the strains had seeds in them which begs me to ask, "Why the hell would I buy seeds from them when I can get them for free, then make my own.

The LPs don’t want us growing our own lol. Anybody surprised.
People I know are just getting seeds off the net from seed vendors.
Others are just getting clones to grow.

Only 1 seed seller has quit since the new law took effect which is gta seeds...my favorite seed seller.
He going to be selling hydro equipment , his new site will go up within a month.

My prediction is the market will be flooded with Crap King Seeds. They have such a bad reputation from so many bad reviews.
https://www.thcfarmer.com/community/threads/crop-king-seeds-warning-do-not-buy.82628/
Myself I have never bought any crop king seeds as I read just to many bad reviews.
A month before legalization the news page I view for my area had a crop king seed banner on there site when you viewed latest mj news.
I emailed them and gave them many links to unhappy customers. The banner disappeared lol.

Yeah, I know that sometimes guys get good results with the Crop King gear. I know a couple guys that did some outdoor autos this summer, a few candy cane autos and a few AK-47 autos. A couple candy cane were really nice but something either hermied or there must have been a male in the area because they have about a thousand seeds from 6 plants.

I gonna need a bigger fridge ;) Who cares if they come out with them and not surprising at all that they'd stall seed sales, it'll cut into their $10/g shwagg sales.

Tweed had seeds back in the summer but they're sketchy at best

I moved and had to switch to the ACMPR in order to move my garden (house was sold) and my new landlord told me I can grow all I want as long as I follow the regulations to the letter and that I buy starting materials (landlord is my sister, she wanted humber valley kush)

Anyways, I ordered Humber Valley Kush and Diesel .... got 3 seeds of each and only 2 of the HVK cracked and sprouted, the rest of the seeds were dead ($117 they cost me)

I complained to them and in the end the offered me a$15 gift that could only be used for purchasing a non cannabis product from them (no seeds and no bud ... not like I want the bud lol)

Anyways, that's my story dealing with tweed ... put the two HVK into flower last week so we will see by around the new year how it compares to real HVK

If everyone can share 30g of flowers, then everyone can share 30 seeds (1 seed = 1g dry flower). Nobody is ever gonna “want” for seed, not when they can get more than enough from their neighbor(s) for free’ish. Sure, some folks will always want to grow seeds of elite strains...but they’re not hard to find! Like the Gov could ever track a seed from a plant that is naturally asexual...lol!

Lots of people coming out of the woodwork wanting to grow, I'm handing seeds out (less than 30 of course) to anyone I come across who's looking for seeds. Makes good use of my over stock and gives me more testers, win-win :)

giving is great and receiving the best they get in return !!

unless ya pop beans every time..growing them out take time.. lol
looking for genetics to keep for yourself is what MOST are trying to do..
so continually popping beans will see your quality and quantity.... go up and down..
and if you want good meds everytime..YOU KEEP THE GOOD ONES for good reason!
its just the correct way of doing things
Switching it up is fine but going BACK to what ya had is GOLDEN..

growing out beans is easy as pie.
They always do great
................................ keeping them up and going continually?...... that takes skill (:
unlike some people here lmaorotff. ;)
