Where did "breath" strains originate?

There's supposedly a "Lamb's Breath" Jamaican heirloom sativa as well.

Think it's AKA Lamb's Bread. But I don't know if it's true to the heirloom.
That's all I know and have heard.

It might have been a Strain Hunters episode I saw it. If I remember i'll link the video.
Yes I have some a buddy brought back from Jamaica.

It is interesting to read about the one Jamaican Lambsbreath submitted on Phylos.
I use "breath", because Lambsbread makes no sense at all. The breath from a lamb would be expected to be very gentle on your lungs, palate, etc. In Christianity and Rastafari Jesus is referred to as The Lamb of God. I believe the Jamaican accent makes it difficult for some others to understand. Also, some Jamaicans might say lambsbread because over time that is what it has become.
All IMHO
As a Rasta I can tell you 100% that the strain is named Lambsbread and that whoever named it Lambs Breath was misunderstanding the speaker. Its actually very simple and you were close, but its part of the way we read the Bible when we read the Lords Prayer when we say "give us this day our Daily Bread" we see it as asking the Father to provide us our herb day by day. The way Christ showed us.. "The Lamb's Bread". Some elder even say that the "new wine" that Jesus spoke of was ganja. I have spent time learning from elders in Nyabinghi and also Ethiopian Orthodox Zion Coptic church which played a big role in JA's cannabis economy in the late 70s/80s. Bless.

Yup, if anyone ever listens to old reggae albums from the 70's/80's, they always called it "Lambs Bread" in the track listings and album titles.

Dont the breath strains originate from the old cookies clone burner and crew were using before thin mint. The cutting that was stolen out of their grows and then passed around by a guy called kush breath, leading the cutting to be called og kush breath.

Peanut butter breath and other lines like this have one thing in comon the og kb parent, and thats wat the op was asking about, they dont have no Jamaican landrace in them.

Thank you. But hey, lambs bread was bob marley and Peter Tosh's fave smoke.
Ya I'm thinking breath was just thrown around after mendobreath, don't think the new age breaths have much to do with long flowering satty like Lambsbreath. Think they named is for the stank of decay and meat like in meat breath and halitosis breath, lol.

Mendo breath is another one made of ogkb x mendo montage. Meat breath is mendo breath x meat loaf again holds the ogkb in its lineage, halatosis breath is hippy slayer x mendo breath again has the ogkb in its lineage. The common link for all the breath strains is the ogkb, none of them came before ogkb and none are made with out the ogkb cookies.

It started with a grower named OG Kush Breath famous for the OGKB cut. Then gage green used it in a cross and named it Mendo Breath. Then Gromer made a bunch of crosses with Mendo breath and all had breath attached to it. Then Dungeons Vault came out with grandpas breath. etc.
100% this, as far as the "Breath" strains that we're all currently smoking. In my opinion it's amazing, because it seems to give everything it's crossed with, a deep "oily" dank aroma and taste. Peanut Butter Breath is ridiculous if you get the right batch/pheno, I've tried a few brands and i had to get seeds for myself.

That's is true, peanut butter is dank is fuck but you definitely have to hunt that one to find the right strain. Luckily I have a cut that yields nice and has a nice purp color to it. Ran some phenos that were fire as hell but lanky and very low yielding, the people that have ran multiple packs know what I'm talking about. The smell is hard to describe but truly unique and an excellent smoke. The dosi x gromers mendo is a special one..

Agree ogkb is the common link between all the modern breath strain though ogkb lineage is a bit questionable. People use ogkb to describe certain mutant variant phenos that are dominant in ogkb and and pop up in it's crosses. You know the very slow vegger/duckfoot fan leaves mutation.

I don’t think Lambsbread has anything to do with the modern breath strains that I assumed came from Mendobreath. I wish true Lambsbread varieties were around.

I never heard that it was stolen... Just a bag seed of one of the earlier cookie bags going around in Cali. A slow, stalky vegger, but better yielding/more stacked than the Thin Mint or Forum.
The OGKB 2.0 found by ChunkyPigs is supposed to be even better at stacking and faster veg times too.
And, yes, most of the "-breath" strains today originate from crosses of the OGKB cookies cut, as far as I know...
