All pre 1899 firearms are out of the jurisdiction of the Federal Government, you can mail them across state lines, purchase them in other states and bring them back to your state and the Fed has no idea. You can also go to a gun show and purchase a used firearm with plain simple cash, no need to show ID or do any background check, totally anonymous.

Newer black powder guns work extremely well and take only seconds to reload. They are deadly accurate at 100 Yards with sabot loads. Old ones are difficult.

Air guns are more for plinking tin cans, maybe squirrels too, but anything bigger is probably out of the question.
Thanks, that's what I've heard, I just wasn't sure and don't want to do anything wrong or have any problem about it if it's ever brought into question- Wouldn't want some cop tripping about it, are they all aware of the rules?
I saw a 50 cal air gun, they say will bring down bears and shit, I was sceptical, but it sounds cool- I will post a link
What are the best antique guns to get? as far as being easy to use and reliable?
It would be nice to be able to have something in case a deer ever came crashing through my window and I had to defend myself.

People don't hunt pheasant in caged areas as far as I know, pheasant can fly, so to a pheasant a really tall fence is nothing to get over. Deer are another thing, they do have cage hunts for deer and elk here, but I don't use them since the deer are plentiful enough in the outdoors. Saw four this morning while walking for the birds.

Crossbow are cool, but you can't hunt with them unless you are severely disabled in my state.
Pheasants are bred on farms then put in Trailers with multiple doors then released at hunting clubs
I used to clean the shot birds

Best Rifle design of all time is the Mauser 98(Bolt Action), 70% of all the bolt actions made today still use the same Mauser design, if you can find one that old however would be a challenge. Marlin model 1888 (Lever action), Winchester model 1884(classic old west lever action) are great guns, highly collectible and spendy.

That Pyramid gun shoots bullets with about 190 ft/lb of energy at the muzzle. Compared to a Winchester model 1884 in 30-30 that will develop 2,050 ft/lb of energy. I think if you shoot a bear with that airgun you are more likely to piss it off than hurt it. Even a 30-30 will take several well placed shots to put down a big pissed grizzly.

There are places that do that, but we don't call that hunting. Hunting is when you walk around a piece of land and stalk your prey or sit and wait for them to come to you. Pheasant are supremely easy to clean if you only want the breast, you can almost do it all in 10 seconds without a knife. Probably only takes you 2 seconds eh?

I just step on the wings and pull on the feet till the whole bird separates in the middle and everything pulls right out, head and everything, whats left over is wings and breast. Twist wings til they pop off. Don't have to pull a single feather off, but like I said, you waste some and don't have the skin.

This guy in the vid is an amateur, but you get the idea.

Hunt Club wants the Whole Bird and so do the Farmers
The hunt club takes the leg meat and makes really tasty Pot Pies.
Otherwise to me Pheasant taste like shit

Way it works is. You shoot the bird. You turn in your shot bird and go home with a cleaned up one, that was shot by someone else
