Winterland, SF, Ca was my main tripping venue in the '70's. Some of the best shows I've seen in the Bay Area were Emerson, Lake, and Palmer; Alvin Lee with Ten Years After; Manfred Mann; and King Crimsom to name a few. Went to Winterland the night before they closed and almost cried. Hated to see that place close.
YOU DIDN'T GO TO THE CLOSING!!!!!?????
You're no longer cool :-D

Saw Tom Petty and Greg Kihn Band the night before, couldn't make The Deads closing show. I know it's kinda sad. Just had to attend Winterland that one last time and I was stuck the that show, TP was very good, he was with a The Heartbreakers then.

It was a total disappointment.I like Tom..but his concert was anything but..
He supposedly wasn't touring anymore, just sporadic shows here and there at his whim..I thought he'd try harder lol

Almost all music i venture into has already been common to others for a while. But I've always listened to, and appreciated a large and expanding variety. Always listening to new stuff. I get bored easily... Never understood how people enjoy listening to the same few songs or artists ALL the time. Different music brings me to different places and I like to check em all out . I don't enjoy very dark sounding music much, like super heavy metal with constant screaming. And I don't like punk rock music. Even a rare few of those are okay once in a while though, usually drunk. I like classical music, classic 60's-70's psychedelic rock,, a lot of 90's rock, psybient and some other electronic that isn't unn tiss rave techno, and some heavy rock like Tool or Metallica type bands the most though. Too many specific bands to list.

The last couple days I've mostly been listening to the black keys, grateful dead, and some electronic like globular and radioactive sandwich. And a lot of drugs were consumed :bigjoint:

Went to this on saturday. Melvin seals and Mark Karen. Kept getting in trouble for smoking weed (never left my pocket of lit one inside) and was not my favorite scene but it sounded good and they did a Death have no Mercy that was freaking excellent. I've seen melvin now a number of times with different lineups and its always a good times.

This is my favorite melvin show I've seen. Happened to be the night after my home was "home invaded" by shitheads and the night before my birthday. This was a great night and much needed release. I love the venue also. Owsleys golden road.

I worked at a call center and a floor manager there played with Melvin at church or on a album or something or other...she wanted the ding-ding too :-D..never got it,but in trying, she gave me a few live recordings she had, trying to butter me up...vindictive bitch too..I.got fired very soon after she found out I had a lady.Melvin is awesome tho..he was real funny in scullys book, even when alluding to dark times with jerrys addiction affecting him and melvins friendship...
He's ALLWAYS at the G3 gathering, which I think is awesome...
Ahh the renaissance of the "I collabed with Jerry" artists is upon us...but it's not as cliche as the "I've played with the members who played with Jerry" phenomenon that is very quickly becoming a standard at every fest...
I guess a little hint of Jerry in my shows beats no Jerry flavor at all!

i'm lost at this point in the tread, are we saying that vanilla ice and david bowie are the bee's knees, are the opposite? sorry, just got confused..
They both are bad artists imo, but, have very important places in musical history(I mean,Keith Richards had to quell his bi-curious cocaine addicted inner self somehow :-D)
