Where's the best place to store seeds?

I live in a humid place, it's quite often hitting 80-90% humidity.

Would I be better off storing my seeds in the fridge? Or maybe the vegetable draw in the fridge?
 
I store all beans in the fridge in a mason jar with a handful of cotton balls in it to absorb any moisture, I also put rice in any open seed packs mostly ones I've bred. I keep mine in the door and always pull beans out over night to get to room temp before I germ. Goodl Luck
 
Is all that really necessary? I just keep them in the envelope they came in and keep them in my closet? Who know how long the breeders hold onto these seeds before they are shipped to a customer. I'm sure it's quite a while.
 
I store seeds in the refrigerator. I keep them in an air tight container with a bag of silica desiccant in the container. The seeds are in small zipper sealed clear baggies, sorted by strain.

I've had good luck with this method and have sprouted 5 year old seeds.

YES..!
The deal is to keep moisture/humidity away from the shell
what better place than the driest place in your place but the fridge/freezer
avoid plastic it leaks. Glass and rice the best
the rice sucks up any loose moisture
and banks like to be rid of seeds ASAP
..its cash baby ..cash! ..lol​

I would say it is very necessary. I had Ubc chemo x romulan seeds that were stored in a desk drawer for 2 years. After those 2 years no seeds would sprout, of the 6 remaining from the original pack. I learned the hard way, but I learned.

So do you put the seeds directly into a bag of rice? My seeds come in these small platics bubble holder thing with a sticky label on the back. Could I just throw that in the bag of rice?

I would not put loose seeds in rice, but that's just me. You could certainly put the "plastic bubble holder thing" in the bag of rice. The rice is just another barrier between your seeds and water, a cheap insurance.

Lol, thanks. I didn't know what else to call the seed holder, haha.

I prefer to leave the seeds in the plastic bag they come then to the rice, plastic aint water proof
 
Hmmmm so far for the last 3 years or so since I started I keep them in a Sucrets can in my medicine cabinet with 1 silica pack. I havent had any problems so far.
