Which 2 Strains To Grow Side By Side For Night & Day Effect?

Hi,

I will be starting my first grow in a normal grow tent this autumn (been doing really small sized microgrows until now). I want to choose 2 strains to grow side by side, ideally maturing at roughly the same speed so I can dry in the same tent I am growing in.

The main thing though, is that I'd like to grow 1 strain with a daytime / active kind of effect and 1 with a heavier, more narcotic / couchlock / sleepy effect. In years gone by, the description might have been a (mainly) sativa and (a mainly) indica plant.

I am asking here, because I reckon the need for a good daytime and nightime smoke combo can't be uncommon and I'd like to hear from Rollitup-ers :) I have tried Googling, but I am not hitting the right search terms to find the articles I need out there...

Does anyone have any favourite combos to grow or suggestions?

OTHER INFO

Example of my ideas so far (partially because I have bought those seeds) include such as 1 Amnesia Haze and 1 Afghan, or 1 Moby Dick and 1 OG Kush though I appreciate heights and effects may vary.

Optional attractive properties would be "not too strong on the hunger effect on the stony night time strain" as I have a habit of letting the munchies get out of hand - and a belly to show for it... Also not too trippy on the daytime strain, but ideally a creative vibe, because I have a semi creative job and some days would benefit from that kind of buzz?

The tent is about big enough for 2 reasonable sized plants MARS HYDRO 4 x 2ft x 6ft (as large as I can accomodate). I shall probably use some topping and LST with a SCROG to get a good number of colas and to try to keep heights similar. I have a single Kingbrite 3000K 320W LED that fits nicely in the width of the tent. I plan to grow in Biobizz All Mix or Light Mix soil, with their nutrients for the next crop or two - as it is what I have and am used to.

Thanks in advance,

Midge

Not straight up indica or sativas I guess, but - correct me if I am wrong - but it seems like there are quite a few strains that seem - somewhat - to level the growing time, the height and so on while retaining the effect which you imagine. So a Sativa leaning affect that grows more like an indica than a Landrace might...

I appreciate it might be a tall order as you'd grow two different crop cycles or get a secondary grow room for the first to finish. I suppose that I could use a little propagator I have as a small drying chamber if necessary. Controlling the drying speed can be tricky the way it is currently rigged though.

I'd just love it if someone had a kind of "Oh yeah, I did that with these two strains and it was easy enough." :)

If not, no biggy!

Yeah. You won’t be able to do that. But if you want a real heavy indica. I suggest Hindu Kush or afghan.

sativa like that. Maybe sour diesel or blue dream.

Sounds like you want 2 different hybrids maybe with the effects your looking for
Yeah, I guess so. I mentioned the Afghan just because I have it and it matches the effect, it is 100% Indica though.

Its the 2 styles 1 night and 1 day that grow next to each other reasonably easily and without too much separation on the flowering times that's the heart of it.

Yeah. Maybe switch the look for some hybrids that have similar flower times. But different effects

I have grown two different varieties with different finish times and had them finish *roughly in the same time but in different flowering areas. Sort of like you suggest here by starting one in flower before the other.
The timing is still really hard but you can get it within a week or two of each other and enjoy them side by side. it wouldn't work in the same area.

Yeah, that's a very good point. I could just offset the starting times... I hadn't considered that, ha ha!

I've never had a plant come in quite on schedule anyway, probably because I always get something a bit screwy and slow them down, especially Autos...

I just wondered if anyone would say "Yo, I always grow these two together because they come in about the same time, but have the 2 profiles I need!"

Thanks. Still chuckling...

You have to find that on your own.

it might not even be what you think. It might be something your able to set up and have perpetual harvest with a 4 week offset. But to you. It seems like it’s spot on.
Seems pretty cool man
