Which is better CXA3070 or CXA3590?

Which is better CXA3070 or CXA3590? And I've asked what Kelvin is good for full spectrum before but the answer I got was use Vero's 3500k, but I'm set up for CXA3590's. because I have the HLG-185H-C700A already and the COB holders.

What do you mean by "better?"

I think it's pretty fucking rad that we are among the few, here on RIU, that have access to utilize the best available, commercialized indoor lights (COBs).

You bring up a worthy question Reals. I haven't seen much data on the 3590 model.

Surely neither one could be a bad choice in selection? Of course availability comes first.

I think SDS digitized part of the spectrum for the 3500k Vero and it was the closest Vero spectrum to the 3k 3070...so toss up there....
And he professes Intensity 1st and spectrum 2nd....even intensity canopy wide....

You would be the 1st in memory to run a multiple [big as fuck] 3590 grow.....Do it

Also for the "amount" of light a 3590 delivers with its efficiency, the Vero's don't touch it, until you start pumping 2+ amps into the Vero's and lose intensity anyway....my humble onion p.

Which will be more efficient the up front cost isn't the issue. I just want the most out of my dollar.

You said it right but the 3590 is the newer version. One thing I noticed the 5000k is 55 watts more than the 3000k(433w to 378w)and I'm running 4 COB's per HLG-185H-C700A 2 drivers per light (8 COB's per light)

I own Mars II lights lol whish will be sold when I make my next 3 lights. I just want one light for everything.

Well I'm gonna do it ordering 24 CXA3590-0000-000R00BB35F from digikey later tonight it's mid bin. I can't order 50 that's 26 more than I need right now lol. I wish I could find some top bin in the 3500k 3590's

Fuck yeah I just bought some top bin 3500k 3590's from Alibaba for $39.50 and $40 shipping and it will be here around Feb 2-9.

I bought 24 of them I forgot to mention.

As far as one COB to do both vegging and flowering, that might be tricky. I have vegged with Cree XML2 4200K and after a few months I decided it is a bit too stretchy for my hybrids. I also have 5000K CXA3590s vegging and that seems to control stretch just right. Another example, I had some seedlings a few inches under a Cree XTE 3200K. Obviously too warm color temp for seedlings, but amazingly they turned away from the light and pointed at the window which was 10 feet away and no sunlight coming through, just bouncing off the snow. But 5000K seems to keep the seedlings attention.

And as far as flowering goes, ever notice how leafy outdoor buds are compared to HPS? I always assumed that it had to do with the spectrum although I don't fully understand it. But time is money and when I have to trim leafy buds it really slows me down. So if we flower with a neutral white will we get leafy buds? Maybe the CMH guys can speak on that.

As far as CXA3070 vs CXA3590, bigger is better as long as you are getting a fair price and a top bin. So when comparing the very best bins of CXA3070 3K (AB) and rare CXA3590 3K (CB), the CXA3590 wins. But if you cannot get the top bin in CXA3590 and step down one bin to BD, the CXA3070 AB beats it just by a little.

There is another thing to consider though, coverage and reflector losses. If your COB is dissipating 40W or more, you most likely NEED a reflector because of the increased distance to canopy. And at 50W the reflector makes a huge difference. The higher you go, the more important the reflector is and the more losses. So the larger COBs do have that disadvantage if you run them harder than the small ones.

I think this has less to do with spectrum and more to do with nutrient regimen.

I grew the exact same clone as my neighbor both in greenhouse. I know for a fact he [like most outdoor growers] overfeeds.. His turned out to be a 10 ft tall leafy mess, mine a 4.5 ft tall flat shrub [scrogged] covered in pine cones, very little leaf. They barely looked like the same plant, i think because he was still pumping nitrogen into august.

Am I just high...or is the CB not a 3K bin at all? The BD(10,000-11,100) is the top bin in everything I can find.
Is it a secret new top bin. I've searched the web and the spec sheets.
What am I missing??

It is not listed in the current CXA3590 PDF. Same goes for the CXA3070 3K AB and CXA3070 2.7K Z4, they were not listed in the original PDFs but added in later as new top bins. For some reason the CXA3590 PDFs do not show the highest bins.

Either does the internet. I changed the bin in the order code and came up with nothing too.

So you have seen it listed somewhere?

Yessir, they were sold under the BD kit number, just like the first ABs I came across, sold under the Z4 kit number.

outdoor is also more leafy due to more nitrogen in the air than indoor air.

I was looking on digi key. How do you know what bin each one is? Is ND a bin # that's the only lettering I saw.
