Which leaves do you prune?

i kno this is an old thread but i clip off bottom leaves wen there dying and shit i kno is ok i guess but clipping off the top will make it grow up slower but also reduce the plants potency. if bottom leaves r just clipped will it grow tall but very potent?

I trimmed a few giant fan leaves before I read this. I will stop NOW.

As in pretty much every other aspect of growing, how/what you prune is very relative. I personally prune the small, lower branches of my plants when they are in veg, as well as some of the small "inside" branches. I basically do this for two reasons: #1 is that many of these branches aren't getting any light, since they are well under the canopy (this is especially true if you use any sort of fluorescent light). #2 is that come harvest time, a lot of the small branches produce maybe a couple grams of popcorn bud...it's just a pain to deal with/trim (although that's just really my own opinion, it's really up to you to decide what is "worth it"). So by cutting away the shrimpy branches, the plant spends it's energy developing the bigger, stronger branches that you leave behind.

Okay,, I've read everyones threads and I've gotten a pretty good idea on where to prune and everything. My next question is what type of lighting is best if im doing this indoor. Do I need to go with a UV bulb or is there another type thats best. I was thinking of lining my closet with aluminum foil to let the light reflect off and give it more surface area. What do you think, anyone? I just need some good tips on how to start off. Thanx everyone.

go check out the indoor growing forum, lots of good info there. if ur talkin lighting in this forum ur talkin bout the sun. and some words of advice if ur gonna start growing indoors... grow enough outdoors so u dont have to bother with indoors. and if u just must have some indoor to smoke go "donate" some of ur outdoor and buy some indoor. good luck and remember, no trimming fan leaves only the bottom shoots.

if your not sure you can at least remove any sick or yellowing leaves in the vegetation stage.i leave the top fan leaves my self and remove older bottom fan leaves.as needed for light .it just depends on the health of the plant i have noticed.i do not like them to look to thinned out of course.make sure your ph levels are 5.9 or so.that will dictate the answers when the ph levels are correct.maybe like a hair cut for a plant if straggly leaves get in the way of needed light remove those.i have 2 of the same plant white widow and i have left one alone and the other i removed some old fan leaves they are both doing the same about i would say.maybe the one i picked shade leaves off of has started shooting nodes a little better and the other that i left alone focuses on the mane top cola and its main side colas.you have to experiment a little with them till your own satisfactory results are in your own control. and remember get the ph levels on the money or it can throw you off on experimenting analysis.

look this is were i am at i have fimed every other new groth after about 12 inches i cut off first six inches of the bottom im coming on hear not to answer anyones question because i have my own qwestion looking for an answer from someone who has experimented n knows the answer mabe a few crops or let put it in better words a few rounds n loves to experiment well thats were i am at i have acheaved max over two per light they say if its not broken y fix it well i want to fix it. i would like to go more into detail what im geting at is my experiance might not mach anyones but if u care to answer please stand on some ground n say it from experience n not from just learning from one person n it works for u because u only tried that one method. OK hear i go so i have fimed at that point i see it is way better wen i do so it releases the hormones to other new sights depending on the strain of course some r small plants right know got a death widow, a master platnum ogee, a buble gum cross with fire og. king lui og, n for shits n gigles a big bud, so okay all are tall plants ow n dimond og, all r big plants so hear i go as the new growth begins the canopee grows strong n hardie i veg under blue lamps the canopee of course is filled compleatly the ph is on point the temp the water temp the plants have a fonominal amount of oxigen in the roots so excelerated growth NASA method for experienced growers u know what i mean, okay the vegitation is crazzy scarie my water leaves r towering some r 8 inches long not from the stem i mean leaf hiding the mixed spectuam light from the bottom, trunks r crazzy thick so hear i am in flower i have started pulling ten percent of the plants water leafs after the fourth week so that the bottom can bud sights can get light, this works great i have done it to another round were the mad man ogee hamafrodited PLEASE SPELLING POLICE BARE WITH ME! so like i sead dutch master didnt do much for that REVERSE k like i sead it worked for the buble gum og n the cherry bomber look at profile pic thats indoor cherry so im a small grower i need max yeild for my 6 plants thats all the state will alow me to grow well i have toped it does better for me to fim witch means 3/4 of the new growth more canopee i spead open chambers so that the canapee is spread out so that the plants spread out for light i cut the bottom new growth im in aroe i put a light metal on the sides or the bottom i can acheive that with the aroe n yes i hav done one side with light n one with out i got more on that other side with the light more crystals too, the air flows threw the the canopee more freeleee less chance of white powdery milder so my qwestion is when do i start to cut off these leave how much so that they dont get stressed or hamat on me what has been your experience? please in no way shape or form am i a clown what i seek is knowledge from the jedi i can trade tips but i dont want to waist tym for i have bought everything in the hydro n listend to workers n failed many tyms i dont want that to happen n of cours i will tri one side if it sound reasonable. Okay check it out. If you clip branches, especially fan leaves, they are you solar pannels, so you are losing energy. By cutting the branch off, you are losing surface area for light penetration and to go on with that, your plant is trying to recover from a lost limb or appendage. They have the leves for a reason and how would you operate if you lost an arm? Not to well. They feel the same. Let it grow huge. if anything, if you are trying to get your smaller secondary shoots to grow just tie the other ones down out fo the way to get more light penetration to the lower branches

okay my canopie is crazzy i have cut out in the past well i got more from the one i took leaves off rather than the side i didnt my question is wen to start look at the pic im gona post wen is the question not y should i or not pleas i have three years behind me n many strains. i apreciate ur insight i realy do have u tried the other method? nevor mind imtrien to post pics but i cant n i know water leaves help but if you slowly thin out the plants the bottoms get light n they just nug up liquid light helps alot too but i got three years n still learning went from soil to hydro to aroe n learned many tricks with lighting n so forth n so on i experimented so my question again is wen to do so plants in aroe gro fast at an excelertated growth n faster more faster bigger more bigger n nugs just look at my profile pic please answer me this qwestion forget about the first foot or two from the bottom i cant post pic eger to do so sealing is 8 feet they reach it at an ecellerated rate formulas that i have used and experimented with since the begining please wen do i start to thin out for me its been in the fourth week 10 percent every five days till the last week ten day flush im pritty good at it but if i can get better i wish to do so.

I clip the lower fan leaves around the clone shoots and then temporarily LST my plant. this makes the clone branches super long so I can train them to become colas.
