I just ordered the 240 watt version. It seems pretty promising.
I have a 90 watt LED right now from HTG. It works great for a really small area, like 20" X 20".

I don't personally feel the price for lights outweighs the savings at the time being. My 250hps dual spectrum sunmaster bulb and light system costs less than half the price of the LED at least yet puts out double the lumens or something (33,000 versus 16,400).

Before you think this one of those "I hate LED" things, it's not, what I find exciting is the electrical savings, heat reduction points, just need to get those lumens up and prices down. A few years should see to that though. Then I'm sure LED will be flying. Can I ask why you guys have gone for LED? What sort of yields do you get?

im not looking for a monetary savings, my grow tent is almost impossible to cool during the summer unless i connect it directly to the air conditioning from the house. i would like a setup that uses minimal ventilation during the summer.

No offence but the guy did not ask for your opinion on HID vs LED. He has made his decision and you would do well to either answer his question by making a suggestion or look in any of the dozens of threads on LED to answer your own questions regarding them.

This happens all the time.

@agent....have you looked at my link, I have the 550W and am more than happy, it is a serious piece of kit so far. And in my opinion it is the best value for money considering the quality of the components.

Which 550 do you have? Do you like it?
I'm looking to get some bigger lights in a month or 2, right around 1500 watts worth, all LED.
I have one 90 watt from HTG in use, and a 240 watt from Gotham Hydro on the way.

I have not used it to flower just yet, I bought it for the summer months and it's just not hot enough yet to swop the 600 but the way I grow and the space I need to cover I feel very confident the 550W will more than give me equal results with a slightly better quality in crystal production which is indisputable now. I grow from clone and start them at 6 inches, they finish around 18 with the new strain I am using.

I wont waffle but it's over the moms right now and they have doubled in the 7-8 weeks that I've had it. The nodes are much tighter the growth is quick and the room is basically unaffected by heat period!! mind you I am just vegging. The light is so bright I get a headache just hanging around it, it's either the UV or just in my head. LOL.

What size space are you wanting to cover?

I'm vegging with my 90 watt LED in a 20" X 20" area, and the plants are really liking it, they are like 3 times wider that they are tall because the nodes are so close.
The 240 watt will go into a 2 X 2 area, and flower the plants that are vegging right now.

The main grow I plan on after my research is done (I'm not dropping $3-$5k on something that will not make me happy), I'm going to be using a 118" X 60" X 78"
tent for flowering. There will be a little extra space in there, but I can use that for ducting and fans, and maybe a drying area in a smaller tent right within the
bigger tent.

www.ecogroled.com Is by a guy who makes all his own LED's and has personally tested his stuff. Look up Khyber Kitsune, on cannabis.com (Not sure if it's up atm they were doing maitenance). His LED's have a great spectrum, and his results speak for themselves. Btw, I am not getting anything out of this, no Incentives etc etc. Just looking to promote some great LED's :D

Btw, it's not just about lumens. Lumens are useless when comparing grow lights.

The 118" X 60" comes to just shy of 50 square feet. I will be using apx. 36 +/- square feet of it for flowering. The rest for fans and air filters, ducting,
and misc. stuff.

So 6x6 in flower space essentially..yes?? I reckon 2x550W would be great or for better overlapping and coverage 4x260W would be great. The one thing that stood out for me in Irishboy's grows were that he said the real factor in exploding the buds was down to saturated overlapping of light from multiple sources. Of all the successful grows with LED this stands out as being very apt to the outcome.

I chose mine because it seemed to have the same spec as the more expensive stealthgrow or hydrogrowled lights but just cheaper and I was not disappointed at all, really well made product.

Also Ben the owner is happy to offer discounts for units, I got mine delivered without paying for shipping to UK, not bad. Also of all the people I had thrown questions at only Ben had the time to answer all of them.

Free shipping to the UK sounds like a good deal.
I'll always call a place up to see if I can get a discount or a break on shipping if they can do it.
The 240 watt Blackstar I have on the way, I got $19 off, and free shipping.

I'll give Ben a call today, and see what kind of deal I can get.

I don't have the post count to recommend anything really, but I would stick with led panels that list real power draw and w/ successfully finished grow journals.

I'd wait for LED's to mature a bit more seriously the prices are inflated for what you get. you can run an HPS/MH both for the cost of a decent LED system, but two lights like that will output easily 4x the lumen's of an LED.

In a few more years LED's will be the main thing like output numbers like 50k lumen easily from how far they've come in brightness over two years intill then HID takes the cake.
