Which light to get?

Which of these two would you recommend? The water cooled or air cooled?

The magnum is just the light it self where as the water cooled one is an entire packaged. If I purchase the same accessories for the magnum xxxl, it comes out to be the same price as the package with the water cooled light.

Which one would you recommend? I've heard lots of good things about the magnum xxxl but this water cooled light promises that you can set the lights 6" or less away from the plants. This obviously sounds much better....Not sure how it's performance holds up. Anyone have any experience?

i use a 4 ft parabolic hood and the bulb is less than a foot away from the buds

I keep my light 6 inches away with my air cooled reflector works fine for half the price.

I would look around then contact HTG they have some of the best deals. They even include things like bulbs if you ask nice.

yes i agree i got my light+reflector there.I buy all my lights from htg fast shipping and cheap prices.Any problems i just call up and fixed asap.

I am trying to run the following equipment:

Lumatek 1000 watts digital ballast
Sun System Magnum XXXL 8"
Hortilux HPS 1000 watts bulb.

I am looking at roughly $650 (includes shipping & tax). The air cooled lights are only an additional $50 at most.

If its worth the bang for the buck than I don't mind spending another $50. I do however plan to purchase more than one setup possibly 5. I would like to have identical equipment.

Sounds like you guys don't have any issues with your air cooled hoods.

Has anyone tried the water cooled? I would like some input on it if any.

I have a 1000W air cooled, with a crap 8" vent fan, and that can get within 6" not problem, as long as you have some moving air in the room. Water cooled seems like overkill IMHO for that setup. Maybe if you have some weird stealth cab grow in a tight confined space, which would be dangerous with a 1000W.

Could be overkill, but I may also try to run more than just one of these units in a single room. Probably looking at a 10' x 10' x 10' space. Would like to do my best to keep the temp as cool as possible without having to use the A/C unit too often. If the water cool unit isn't a bad choice, I'd probably pick it up. But would like to hear some insights from other members here.
