Hi everybody I need help on choosing a fan for ventilation spacing is 2x3x4 which should i get 165cfm active air or a 400cfm active air i dont want a fan that sounds like 10 fighter jets what fan would u buy

I just went through this myself. My space is 2x4x5 and I went with a 4" 190cfm fan/carbon filter combo. Heres the one I ordered, it got good reviews and comes with a 1 year warrantee. You could spend more for a high end brand name but you really don't need more than a 4" for your space. Plus if it's too strong you could add a $20 speed controller and lower the speed and it will quiet it down.

so the165 cfm is not overkill and i will be pulling through about 10 feet of ducting and the fan will be the exhaust should i be fine or go with the higher cfm one

The 165 will be fine. I run a similar size fan in a 3x7x8. A 165 in that space is big a 400 you could fly a kite in there

agreed... 165cfm should be enough for your space... Whats your carbon filter rated at? Make sure it has a higher rating than your fan or else you will have alot of noise and risk collapsing the filter, I'm told.

no filter thinking about a D.I.Y one or will that heavily restrict my air flow

you should get a 6" fan and at least a 200 cfm filter. sweet and simple cost you about 150.

A) it will cost as much to make a filter as buy one
B) dont by a cheap filter and it will last for years, i recently bough a gotham hydro filter and it is crap, junk, i wil have to fill and pack it myself before it is any use.

already got the 4 inch fan room specs were smaller than i had originally though and money is tight so a do it yourself one is what is in store

i think you are moving too fast if you cant afford the filter and fan. sorry im a long time grower and i took a lot of ghetto shortcuts. looking back i wish i had just spent the proper money on the proper shit.

do what you can do man, just get the real deal when you can i know how it is.
