I was wondering, how do you know when to start adding nutrients?
Hypothetically, I'd be using that Fox Farm Ocean Forest stuff and the nutrients I'd have would be the Fox Farm Grow Big stuff.
if your using foxfarms OF that shit is packed full of good stuff for your plants so wait until they are around 4-5 weeks before you add anything as thats when they will actually use it. they spend the first 4-5 weeks establishing a good strong root system so thats when they will be safe to start nuteing.

change soil??? you mean a new grow cycle or what??? because you dont change the soil unless its fresh clones or seeds your planting. for hydro you would use rockwool as it works best with soiless mediums.. IE...clay rock pellets, perlite,or any other soiless medium. if your in soil stay in it.:blsmoke:

i wish i was lucky enough to have a home depot. i live in germany and the main store i have to shop at is the post exchange which doesnt stock shit for garden supplies...i can go to a german home store but i dont know what to look for. i picked up some special soil for tomatoes but everything on the bag is written in german so im curious to know if that will work or if i should look for something else. Thanks.

so do u read german??? if so what does it say??? you want potting soil that does not have any added nutrients... unless you plan on not feeding them yourself and want to try the nutrient added soil:blsmoke: but look for foxfarms, miracle grow, scotts, or any specialty plant soil.. thats got good organics and provides good texture for roots and can drain well.:blsmoke: tomatoe soil would probably work great but i have never used it so i cant tell you forshure but if you got a credit card or something of that sort... you can everything you need online:blsmoke:

No i don't think its true. if you don't flush the plant 2 weeks before harvest then yeah it would probably fry your brain:mrgreen:

To bad we dont have any foxfarms distributers by me.

Im playing with my soil gow this year --
have 1/2 MG outdoor mix (manuer and shit) with 1/2 pro-grow. I also mixed in a heaping amount of vermiculight and perilight. '

well see how it goes -- it was goign great till i got alot of heat issues (100-120 a day -- jsut put ina portable ac unit and am back down to the high 70's through low 80's max (83).

i plan on ferting in 2 weeks with my regular seaweed ferts and well see how it goes.

foxfarm ocean forest. it is the shit. everything is in there. just pop the bag, put in a pot, and grow. no need to worry about feeding until 2-3 weeks in. perfect for inside growers.

Im using this now and it seems i have a little nute lock up/stunted growth during flowering. PH of the soil is around 6.8; but it seems some nutrients are being locked up (perhaps N) *yellowing leaves* . Could also be root lockup for this soil has small wood chips in it that some of the roots "group" up around. Anyhow this was my first full grow experience so; it was all enlightning none the less. :P

most nutrient lock ups happen when there is no flushing of the soil leaving salt buildups and locking out certain nutes. Also adding perlite will help aeration of the soil for oxygen to the roots and help keep the roots from growing in bunches or wrapping around bark.

this might be a strange request for soil info. i live in the uk and the only access to soil is through b and q or homebase stores. i realise that this site is mainly populated by american growers so these stores may mean nothing to you but to put it simply they are stores that sell various non specialist plants and soils among other things. i have been considering using just a homebase own brand multipurpose compost with a 30% perlite mix and would like to know if this is suitable. i have already posted the same question in the uk growers social group but have had no answers as yet. if anybody could take the time to check the homebase site and giveme some feedback i would very much welcome and appreciate it. thanks in advance to anyone who posts a reply here or sends a pm. peace

Don't use (N) durring flowering. Turn up the P and K. Turn off the N. You will have huge buds! Look for a product called Big Bud on eBay.

thats why you do 2/3 ocean forest, 1/3 light warrior! perfect mix. Flush about once a week
I use the same mix only I use Happy Frog in place of the Light Warrior. I have used the Light Warrior and it's great but I believe I get slightly better results with the FROG! :peace:

IF HOME BASE IN THE UK CARRYS THE SAME AS HOME DEPOT THEN THEY CARY A BRAND OF SOIL SUPER SOIL THE BROWN BAG MIXED WITH PERLITE MY PLANTS LOVED IT AND CHEAP PRICE THE ONLY DOWNSIDE WAS IT BEING STORED OUTSIDE IT SEEMED TO COME ALL SET UP WITH FUNGUS KNATS
BUT A LITTLE NEEM LOTS OF KEEPING CLEAN AND MAYBE A PRAYING MANTIS OR TWO CAN KEEP THEM IN CHECK.:hump:
