White hairs and still be ready?

Hey guys,

I think I know the answer here but I just want some info from you guys that's all.

My sativa ladies are halfway through week 12 of flowering and the indica dom pheno looks to be ready.

The calyx's look swollen and plump, trics are 50/50 cloudy clear and there's about 10-15% white hair which is confusing me a little, here's a wee backstory to add to my confusion.

In short, my self watering system failed over christmas and I came back to some very unhappy plants. She had about 30-40% white hairs when I left but when I came back they were all orange (due to no moisture) I presume.

Now I'm stumped as to whether this sped up the ripening process or slowed it down.. Stress induces ripening am I not right? Since a plant is sensing its impending doom and just wants to spread its genetics.

Lost 80% of my green foliage so growth has been pretty slow. I got some white hairs back after about 5 days but never to the same extent as before. Since then she's just been ticking over at a slow rate.

Also, it looks as if she's trying to re-veg? The lack of chlorophyll is confusing her so she's trying to make more and flower at the same time which is leading to some pretty funny growth (I don't mind). So I'm ending up with foxtailing buds turning into wee stems.

So yeah, white hairs, chop? Yay or nae?

There are strains that won’t turn check the trichromes but I think it’s close if not ready already.

There seem to be a lot of factors and no rule that applies to everything. Check for amber trichomes... but know that some strains will never amber. And I've been noticing lately that right around the time my buds look done, some strains will start producing new white hairs - and there's no way I can extend the run waiting for those to turn.

One thing to keep in mind is what kind of high you like -- in general the longer it goes, the sleepier it gets. I don't cut mine before they have had a chance to fully fatten up and mature, but the patient I grow for does not like couch lock, she's a day-time active smoker and so I tend to take mine down a little on the early side.

Yeah really I don't see them changing too much more now the leaves are fucked.

I'm in the same position, some matured alot earlier now I'm stuck with one that looks like it stalled. But it's still all green with mostly white hairs. . Half clear half cloudy but they look all foxtailed and not fat enough... Now their producing new hairs lol.

Might just cut my losses in fear of bud rot. And to generally just a

Ive always went by 3 indicators in progressing order of importance. First...the day you flipped them. Put this up against what the breeder says is finish time..really ballpark..but your in the park to proceed to the second. Next..when your close in days...start looking at pistil (hairs) development / lack of /color /whithering. This gets you even more info after the first indicator. And finally...get a pocket microscope and look at trichome development and color. This one tells you pretty much everything. Whether the trichomes are clear..cloudy..amber..etc. With these 3 indicators of peak ripeness and when...you should be set. Remember..depending on cultivar being grown...not all sections of the plant may be ready all at the same time. Much like tomatos. You could have ripe flowers at the top and have secondary buds down below the main canopy not quite ready yet. Most growers harvest whole plant but harvest accordingly. Perfectly fine to chop top ripe buds and let the secondary mature a few days more.

Cheers for the reply guys. I've got another tester bud. It still seems a little racy at first which I'm aware is prime 'unripe' sativa high?

So will see how this behaves. Still bud growing so if anything I'm still getting more smoke leaving them a little longer. Might take her down weekend!

Youll still get a racey high until you have properly cured the bud. I would chop her she looks good enough to chop to me
