White mold on roots - dwc - please help!

Yesterday I noticed some fuzzy white mold on my roots in one of my dwc buckets. I immediately sprayed the effected roots directly with straight 3% h2o2. I also poured (maybe 1/2 cup) into the water in the bucket. I also added another air line with bubbler to the water because the original air line and stone got somewhat choked off by the roots growing around them which is I’m sure partly to blame for this mold.

Today the mold has already subsided, but it’s far from gone. What is left is more slimy and snotty rather than fluffy, but it’s still white. I have resprayed the effected area with the same straight 3% h2o2 a couple more times today.


I’m not really sure what to do next??


I have Hydrogaurd, but I have read not to add this and h2o2 at the same time. I was planning to change the water and rinse the roots as best I could. Then add Hydrogaurd to the fresh water. Will this kill this mold? Should I let it sit in the h2o2 water longer?

I have also read about Hygrozyme and SM90 - are these better to use in my case? Or should I just keep treating the water and directly with h2o2? How often?

change the res out, daily if you have to, and add more h2o2 each time. i may take 4 or 5 days to get everything looking good.
all the products you mentioned are different things.
hydroguard is bacillus Amyloliquefaciens, which lives in root systems, and out competes harmful organisms, basically eats all the food and makes the rest starve.
hygrozyme is enzymes that break down dead tissue, so your plants can consume it. it helps keep the root zone "clean" but doesn't do anything to stop harmful organisms on it's own.
sm90 is a wetting agent, can't see how i would be useful in this situation.
so once you get things under control, a combination of hydroguard and hydrozyme will help a lot if you don't want to stay sterile.

Thank you so much for the reply! I will change out the res very often and keep retreating with h2o2. How much 3% h2o2 should I be adding to the bucket? Should I add in any nutrients since I’m constantly changing the water, but I would assume they still need nutrients. They just get half strength GH trio. I forgot to mention, this is a very mature plant, vegged for 7 weeks and now in the 2nd week of flowering, so the root system is tremendous and overall still looks healthy.

first time or two 25ml per gallon, then drop it down to 15.
you can keep feeding it, i'd just cut it back a little till you get things under control
