White paint or Mylar?

I dont see a sticky with all the idiot questions so I ask. White paint or mylar? Is it worth the extra $$ for the mylar or is it just as good with some paint? Ive got one grow under my belt but it is outdoor. Moving indoors for the winter. Im building a 4x5x7 box. 4-6 plants SOG. I already have a 600w HPS/MH, a nice dehumidifier(box will be in my basment already have one). Im also worried about odor. Im thinking a carbon scrubber but are 2-3 PC fans enough? Or should I get the kit with the inline blower? Also can I put seedlings under MH? I already have a 2 bulb 4' fixture I could get a couple CFL's for the seedlings if need be. Money is no objet for this build but I know I dont need every latest doo-hicky.

in my opinion, mylar is quicker and easier to work with obviously, but white paint will reflect to...make sure it is FLAT white paint...not gloss or semi gloss...flat....for the odor, u cant go wrong with the carbon scrubber, but i dont think a ouple pc fans are gonna cut it...u need an inline if ur gonna use the scrubber. U can also use the ONA blocks or gels....they are odor obsorbing gels but are more suited for small spaces, so i wouldnt recommend them..Or i guess u could get a shit load of them but that could get a bit pricey. So the kit with scrubber and inline fan is the way to go for u my friend...I veg my seedling under a 400w mh from the time they break soil, until the time they go to flower with no ill effects..works out fine...But i also put some seedling under flourescents in my overflow room...So either way ur good to go in that area...What type of soil(if running soil) and nutes u plant on running? anymore ? feel free...remember, only dumb question is the one not asked....peace....Ganja

Thanks for the advice. +rep

On the odor subject. I used to work in the hot tub industry years ago. I remeber ozonators helping clean the water to cut down on chemicals needed. I see that they have ozone generators to clean air. This would be cheaper in the long run not having to replace filters. But Ive also heard a few comments that ozone is not good for the plants. I cant find any extra supporting info on this. Not good? What about if it mounted on the outside of the grow box by the exhaust?

you could put it on the outside but without filter you will still have a ton of smell...

Also I will be using generic potting soil. All purpose garden fert 20-20-20. Little molasas durring flowering. Same exact thing I did for my outdoor grow. It worked very well. Im a few weeks away from harvesting two 6' & one 7' gals. Im taking babysteps in my learning process and keeping it simple. My first lessons were just getting to a harvest and telling the sex. Started with 4 seeds and ended up with one male that I pulled. So I passed both lol. Next is getting to harvest indoors and cloning. If Im going to do a SOG/LST I need to get clones fast to force flower and weed out male plants.

Only downside of ozone is that the police have ways of detecting it from helicopter. So if you were on a large scale, pumping out tons of ozone, then it would be a problem if they ever were searching for grow houses in your area.

i wouln't worry about the police looking for you ozone generator, since it will be a hamilton beach and such used product, it quite stupid that someone would post that to try to freak you out. police use the FLIR and fly at night 2-5 when the ground is cool so it can pick up heat patterns.... so dont even fucking sweat being busted for ozone...

So no go on the ozone if I still need the scrubber. Thanks +rep. Does anyone know if the inline blower is loud? Im guessing I will run it 24/7. I dont have to hide this box. Just dont want it to be nusance in my house. Smelly or loud.

Dont think they would pick up one little generator in a basment. If anything it could look like a hot tub signature. Im running a little grow box not a toxic waste dump lol....

yeah dont sweat that ozone bs nemo

get a scrubber and a inline because indoor you need to be pulling the hot/stale air out of the room and pump in freshair

If you make a housing unit for the inline fan and suspend it from ceiling by bungee cords than it dramatically makes it quieter because the bungee absorbs vibrations. Only sound would be from the motor and air flow....When using filters its best to pull through them and not blow through. It will restrict your blower more that way and you dont want that.

I dont know if im reading ur last sentance correctly, but if i am, let me say this....If ur starting from clone, there should be no worries of weeding out the male...because there shouldnt be any...clones are taken from mother plants, which are always female, therefore ur clones come out female also....Just my 2 cents....Hope that helps you....Ganja

No I will be starting from seed. I dont know if what Im doing is SOG or LST or if they are the same lol. Ive read so much these past couple months while growing that my head is spinning. I want a good yeild. My plants outside are great. But I cant get 6 & 7 footers in my space. So to help Im going to grow them a couple nodes. Take clones to force flower. I will only flower the clones by taking them out of the box early each day. Identify the clone males and remove the father the clone was taken from. Once the males are gone I will lay down a wire grid. Figure the gals should be around 12-16". I will start to tie them down to the grid. Let them grow again, tie down and repeat till the grid is filled(I dont want to waste all this time on males then try to remove them) Then I will top them. Veg a couple more weeks then flower. If I read it right all my shoots reaching for the light should become colas correct? I will have down time between grows. Laws and weights big felonys. Im doing this for free smoke not to catch a case. No mothers and no access because I tell no one but you guys lol.... Thank god I have this outlet.

I like the bungie idea! The rafters in my basement would be perfect. And I already have some bungies in the garage!

what ur gonna be doing is called a Scrog...its a sea of green with a screen to grow up through....but if u have the height to do it, let them grow out....dont restrict them with the screen..id think u get more if u didnt scrog them...thats usually a small, tight space method...but i have seen it done on big grows so it can be done, i just think u would yield more with out it...ganja

Im only looking at 4' ish tops in my box by the time I figure pot and light loss at 3'. So now Im looking at topping or FIMing to get 2-4 colas. I thought with the Scrog method that each time I tied the main stalk down the 2 shoots would turn to the light. Then when I top it at the end all the shoots would turn into colas? That should get me 8+ per plant. Plus I can veg a little longer and use the grid to cover the areas where the males once were under it. Wouldnt that yeild more?
