White Rhino Hydroponics First Grow Cree White Led

Hello Dear Friends of rollitup.
I know I could start a journal on this grow, but because the plant already got started, I'd prefer to do a journal next time when the plant starts from seed. |After smoking a QP of white rhino, which took almost 2 months, I got about 40 nice "bag seeds" ;-). The white rhino was finished very well and the seeds were hard to find, there is a pic of some nuggs, the stuff where the seeds had come from. I presoaked 1 seed and got her started 2 weeks ago. It was my first hydro grow and I mistakenly started drowning the plant in the first week. Now, the plant had recuperated and is growing fast. Check out her roots and her leaves.
My goal is to start a new seed every 3 weeks, for perpetual and personal consumption

The lamp is a small group of 9 3 watt cree leds, white. They throw up 2700 lumens, which is enough for now for my little bitch. I used a standard aluminum heatsink with a tiny fan for heat management. Without the fan, the heatsink gets quite hot, and I was worried about burning the LEDS. I am an electrical engineer, and I sell LEDS to make a living.

When I first started this plant, I had problems with grow media, using small pebbles prove a little heavy for my roots, plus I had the root zone 100 percent submerged in bubbly water so she started to drown. I thought it was a nute problem because the drowning did not appear for 1 week. After giving it some nutes, her leaf tips burned just a bit on the first true leaves set (they got damaged so I clipped 'em after the 2nd and 3rd set came in).
About my hydro system, It is a ghetto class system but the plant is still alive. I see how enthusastic pot growers here seem to have enough paper to buy massive equipments, but I have a small family to feed and the rent to pay, so whatever bit of toilet paper ($) I have left at the end of whatever day I feel like adding more equipment in, I do what I can. In Colombia, hydroponics stores do not exist like a McDonalds does, in fact, the capital city didn't produce 1 real hydroponic store for me to visit. I got the nutes however, they come in Two Part solution dry. I just started my little plant on nutes this week, about a 50/50 strength and she doesn't show any nute burn. I would like an EC meter, but again thx to being in a 3rd world country, hydro stuff is a real occult art here :D

The Hydro System I use is just a plain bucket of treated bottled water with a ph of around 6.5, with 1 air stone. Now the special thing about my plant's reservoir is that it only holds 750ml. wtf? not really though... this tiny system i was experimenting with for starting some clones and seedlings, without having to spend a lot o f $ and water on a traditional big res. So I suppose later when the rootzone takes up a gallon bucket, it will be upgraded as necessary. I find this way easy beause I don't have to fill the res except once every 5 days, at such a young plant stage... Another plus is that the airpump doesn't need to be a massive beast that takes 100w. I use a standard 5liter per minute pump on 5 watts that breathes a fury of oxygen bubbles in the tiny res for my rootzone. Now now, I got the future covered. I am looking at a bigger pump that does 45liters /m by the end of the month when it is time to upgrade the res tank. BTW, the rootzone lives in the reservoir in this design. no water pumps or water hoses. so does this sound like DWC or something different?

I will keep the plant's progress in this hydrosystem up to date every 2 days. Plz give me any opinions about color, etc. because I'm operating without an EC meter. Just PH and a scale to measure nutes. Two part solution requires 1.5 grams per 2 liters for minor nutes and 3 grams for major nutes. PEACE

Today I got around to checking the PH level and Saw that it was hovering in the 6.5 range after ferts were added. I used 5 drops of apple vinegar to adjust the PH to around 6-5.9. I was seeing some signs of nutrient deficiency in the leaves. I hope this helps my plant get all her nutrition. Her root is is doing fine and shows progressive growth that is faster than the top side. I'll get a pic up tomorrow

Hello, I guess this is day 17 of veg since she got planted. What do you guys think about color? Bottom leaves are green, but the top ones under the LED are a little faded but not too much.

any comments about the colors of the leaves? They're not as green as I want them. I added more macro nutrients and some micro nutrients to the plant yesterday, and adjusted the PH down to 5.5. In just one night I saw the roots grow a lot more and even the leaves perked up, maybe the color will be back soon?

Finally got all rootzone light leaks covered up. That is actually a mylar snack bag turned inside out... I hope the dyes dont leak into my hydropon solution... oh well. Dark roots!

May I ask why you are down in Colombia, I take it by your English your American native?

To let you know, if you ever need help, Message me.
From what I see, your doing alright. The plant is growing.
I would consider something more fabricated, and maybe that can grow 4-6 plants?

Thx A lot. BTW I am American Native. I began traveling about 3 years ago because of my own risk taking in business abroad, and discovered that there is still $ to be made in south america. I got married here and now live the Ganja Lifestyle without medical cards or paying 60$ an 1/8th of good kind.

oh yea, about this plant growing alone being a little wastey of time, this is a test. I've grown plants before, and read a ton on here about hydro, but this is my first hydro that is working, and I'm just trying it up before I bother building a 4 plant grow :D

whats up man, she dont look bad at all. you really dont need anything fancy to do DWC at all just a few 5 gal buckets with lids and order some round net pots to cut into the lids (very cheap) and for the air pump i have used as small as a 7 watt running 4 5 gal buckets just fine. i like having good stones in the res,s so i would order those as well from the internet (cheap as well) this can all be had for pretty cheap i would say around 40-50 bucks for a good 4 plant system that would yield you great buds.

now for your plant. if you are running bottled water in your res i would say you are prably going to need some calmag to add in the water i had a similar issue as my home has a DI filter in it and i was having yellowing leaves got some calmag and they got dark green again withing days. other than that great job so far and i will be checking in every now and again.

Hi, DrGreen
THx for your input. Unfortunately, I don't find calmag here in southamerica, unless maybe I check the store where I got my 2part hydroponic nutrient solution, they might have something similar. Otherwise. I think I will go back to using the tap... TODAY!!! I can't stand the nutrient imbalance that is being made by using the treated bottled water. DOH!
