White Widow - How Many Tops?

Hi everyone. I'm new to this fourm and this is my first grow. I've got a white widow in a 5gal bucket and it's currently about 18" tall and about 2X as big around as the bucket is. I've been doing the low stress tie down method to make it spread out instead of going straight up. I've also been cutting the tops every 2 nodes so that it branches. I'm wondering how many tops are to many tops? I currently have probably 30 tops on this plant and am planning on going to flowering stage in the few weeks. I'm wondering if I should just keep cropping tops till I go to flowering or if I should allow it to start growing beyond the 2 node lengths. If it matters I'm growing under 20" floressent grow bulbs that have been overdriven. I have 4 bulbs over the plant and it seems super happy so far. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Post some pictures, Id like to see this plant. The problem when you get too carried away with LST and topping is your plant will get too compact and bushy and turn into an intertangled mess and you'll be forced to remove fan leaves so that light can penetrate. Removing fan leaves isnt ideal.

Well so far I've done the LST so that I can avoid blocking to many of the lower leaves. But I've gotten to the point where if I keep cutting I think it would start to block lower leaves. Just not sure what's better to do.. Keep cutting or leave it be and in about 3 weeks or so flower it.. Dunno.. To new.. LOL
