who at RIU is hooked on fishing;-)

yeah i believe they are actually directly connected to the fresh water river/lake trouts. here in the gulf there are 2 species of sea trout silver and speckeled. The speckled is most prized by anglers that bigger one is a rare find she was 23 inches. you are allowed to keep 1 20 inch or over. I remember once catching a rainbow trout in NC it was an awesome fish to catch, much better looking fish in the fresh water version LOL.

Not trying to be an asshole but I always thought sea trout were not related to true trout, so I googled it and came up with this:

spotted sea trout -- Britannica Online Encyclopedia

OK..so I am an asshole but also a fishing fool and I love Florida.
Only been there four times but caught great fish. I go to a little resort in Marathon, half mile from Seven Mile Bridge. Get an apartment for two and a 20' boat for seven days for about $1500. Best deal ever! In fact since I started reading this thread today I e-mailed them for room availability.
FLORIDA! FUCK YEAH!
We don't even have a salmon season this year in NCal, seems to be a serious shortage.
I'd move to Fl if it wasn't for those baaad pot laws. Hell....I may move there anyway. Man I love fishing!

I live in New Zealand we mainly target huge fish like marlin (blue, sailfin giant tuna)
we keep probably 1 or 2 giant tuna but we tag and release marlin you fight those things for a couple of hours you gain nothing but respect for them plus there beautiful fish
i have never been fresh water fishing though get into hunting dear and wild boar aswell.

nah you werent being an a hole bro LOL, I really wasnt positive of the relation b/w the 2. Just know we have a couple of saltwater varieties and NO fresh LOL. Florida rocks for fishing and sucks for cannabis growing, they are really hard on us here when it comes to weed:-(

Yeah, the true trout live in very cold, fresh, high O2 water. Sea trout are pretty much tropical. One weird thing tho...steelhead trout are rainbows that go out to sea for years then come back, sort of like salmon. They get real big and take skill to catch. Neadless to say, I've never caught one. Rather go to Fl and catch ten diff kinds of fish in one day.

you are right about FL's variety;-) I went fishing for a couple of hours this late afternoon, I was targeting snook. I ended up catching a mango snapper, and a small trout. I seem to be a trout magnet these days and my gf's brother who goes with me keeps landing monster snook. I think its b/c i want to land them so bad and he just plays it by ear. here is what a snook is for those who dont know. Its an insane game fish here in FL, very prized for its all around fight and food quality when in season by anglers. snook fishing - fishing snook

yall can have your trouts, heres a nice bass i just picked up this morning.

and ya thats a hamster, isnt he cute??

niceeeeee lol i liek to take the boat out going around with a blunt in my mouth.I liek to tryin run over the birds in the lake the dive under watr thos and come back up liek 40 feet away fopmr were they went under :P

sweat bass man. i love bass fishing for large mouths here in FL, but they are pretty easy fish to catch. most spotted sea trout over 19 inches are females herem in FL and are very hard to catch b/c they dont eat often and like large live bait. Never the norm to land a 23 inch seatrout on a plug lure for example, you gotta net your greenback sardines first then fish;-) nice bass though.

some sharks are very good to eat, like small bull sharks and smaller black tips. I believe the smaller the shark the better the meat is to eat. The bigger ones are way tougher. That looks like a nurse shark to me;-) I dont believe it is very eatable at all and probably needed to release that guy. They are harmless and good sharks, lol. Well if you did eat it let us know what it was like.

I hear the lemon sharks in your area are very tasty, ever hear that?

yeah lemons are really good eating, I heard the smaller ones are way better to eat too. But I have never caught a lemon before, as aggresive as they can be to humans, they seem to like the deeper water.
