how much area can i cover "suffiently"with a 1000hps, a 6' rail, and a hood that covers aprox 3x3-4x4 of direct intense light, about 12'' from my canopy??? i have a few more questions once i find sum1 who knows how to properly use 1 of these things for optimal lighting... i have the gear mentioned above and a 8x12 flowering room and wanna make the most of it without overkilling... thnx

well i have no experience with light movers but i would assume a six foot rail would move the light 6 feet. sorry I was being a smartass realistically I would say go twice or less the area You would use for a standing 100 watt

yes it can move 6'.. u adjust ur stop and start spots but the longer u go donw the rail, the longer it takes to get bak leaving plants on the ends in shade for a bit... how much will that shade periods afect my yeild??? u see where im goin with this???

yeah i get ya...like i said I wouldn't go more than twice the area i would be afraid my yeild would suffer. I would experiment a little, try it out at 1.5 x surface area of standing light and than go 2 and look over results. or you could figure out how many lumens your putting out and how many lumens you want per sq. feet that's probably the best way to go isn't it like 7000 lumens per sq ft min standard correct me if I'm wrong.

i guess that makes sense lol maybe not

ok rethought go twice the area of a standard lamp so that all the plants recieve equal light (basically) and equal shade if you were to go 1.5 the middle would constantly be getting more light so youd be doing a lot of shuffling.

with a rail u can have ur light closer to the canopy with out burning them so the lumins r higher in that specific area and by it moving around light gets to lower areas or places that would be shaded with a stationary light so its hard to say how it wil suffer or increase.. my problem is that i want to make an areo unit but need to know how much i can cover without diminishing yeilds so i can build it... im thinking 8ft??? too much??? can i go more??? either way i would presume that i will still get more off it then i would if it was stationary... so if i was to pull 16 oz of a ststionary 4x4 area, im not expecting 32ozs off a 4x8 area with a rail as it does not compensate for another lamp.. but ide be happy getting say 20-25oz with the 4x8 area and setup... i dont care for big ass nugs as long as the final weight is increased... any1???

I've been using an aircooled 1000watt moving about 5ft... covering an area of 4x8ft. The plants are looking a littly spindly considering how much light they are getting. Don't go more than 10ft.... 1000watts is good for 5x5 so with a lightmover 5x10 but even then you'll be spreading the light a little too much.
