Who uses hydro to grow there meds

The faster you can drain your buckets in a ebb system will give more oxygen from being pulled down. You would think a smaller net pot would pull more air than a bigger one creating more of a vacuum effect. I have used 6 and 8 inch net pots with good results. Also more cycles and faster cycles the better.

I do. I know it actually ;) look up Heath Robinson and his tree grows.

Roots grow when they are seeking water. They grow around the hydroton. Look at the surface of a sphere as apposed to a strait line.

Btw more flood cycles work against roots growth.

I think you're the one missing the point bud, I just want to grow weed and get/give advice, not argue with people i don't know about stuff that doesn't matter. For whatever reason you want to pick a fight with we, cool with me I agree with everything you say. There you win :)
 
I have a sample bag of grow stones. I was going to buy a bunch of the shit cuz it's made in the USA
but it took the dude like 3 months to send me the sample bag. I have enough to fill one of those net pots
I bought today though. He sent me a bag for soil aeration and one for hydroponic use, like your photo.
 
I want to run a 2 plant set up for hydro grow..... Can you dudes suggest me to where I could learn step by step, the tools the mixing of nutrients I mean everything to know for a newb hydro grow.
 
I've been using a mix of hydroton and grow stones for about 2 years, and just today bought another 50l bag of grow stones to to off my supply. I like them, they don't roll around, they seem to hold plenty of water, and they are supposed to have silica in them to help increase structure. The price was the big thing I liked to be honest, like $22 for 50l, rather then i think $40 for 30l.
 
I will add the ones I use aren't like the picture, they are all different colors, and seems like a couple different types of stones in the mix.
 
may i say the hydroponic forum at rollitup.com lots of usefull info there .they will teach you from geting water outa the faucet to smoking your reward after harvest.good luck

I knew what you meant, I was reaffirming your thesis.

I feel like a comparison between a small, medium and large net lid should be set up, grow journal style. Same strains, same nutes, same light, same room, etc.

I don't think there's exactly a clear answer yet on what's better, there are too many factors IMO. My head rationalizes it as the surface area of the net increases, the bigger the roots are before they hit the higher concentration of nutes, the better they will absorb them. More roots reaching for water/nutes should be a healthier plant, right?
On the flip side, a smaller net would mean the roots can escape to the water/nutes below faster. Seems like 7-10 days is all it takes for the roots to be shooting out of any large net anyways, so I don't know how much it would help.
 
Re to bloody's comment about hydro section
Every time I try to go through those threads 2-6 assholes will fight about the nutes being used. They agree on getting the water out of the faucet no problem, shortly after though, it's on.

If one of us took 3 cuttings and threw them into 3 different buckets, fed them the same and put them in the same room, that would be good enough proof for me.
 
You would need to connect the buckets. All must be exactly the same feed. Plus a control. Say just a five gallon full of hydroton.

Or is this all gonna be DeathWithoutCause? DWC?
 
Once I buy a house, we could have a competition... but that's a minimum of three months away.

I like the where this is going. A 3 or 4 bucket + reservoir system would be wicked easy to set up.
 
I was thinking more along the line of a bubble bucket or water farm.
My bucket system is tied together, don't wanna tied more shit together.
That's why I like soil plants in front, I can sling them bitches out of the way.

leave more hose on your buckets then you can move em easier..ur Ebb system..

Originally I was thinking simple DWC (DIY Bubbleboy type), but for the comparison, to make it all fair, and keep PPM's identical an RDWC/UCDWC would be used.
I'm not afraid of the plumbing, and added complication, I'm an engineering student ... those types of things are fun for me.
